Bird's Moving & Storage

Hired Bird's to move our business offices to our new facility 20 minutes down the road. They called the evening before and insisted we were there at 7:30 am as their first onsite crew would be there at 7:30am to begin dismantling, and the secondary crew with transport truck would be there at 8 am, despite our business hours being 8 am and we are the customer, but they insisted 7:30 am, so we were there at 7:30 am, waiting.

I wrote this review 3 years ago whem we moved. We have moved a lot! The most stressful part is "Will the guys handle my worldly possessions with care and respect? Will they be trustworthy, decent to deal with and hard working guys?" So, the answer to all of the above is a resounding Yes! Our team, Dave and Chris, led by Callam, were all of the above. We would hire them again in a heartbeat. Did I mention they came in under budget, and 100% on time? What a different experience this time.

I hired them for a move that took place a couple of weeks ago. The movers were hardworking so this is not a 1 star review for the employee efforts. John the owner did the estimate thru Zoom which I thought was odd but figured a byproduct of the pandemic. What a mistake that was! The owner underestimate the amount of my belongs and sent a truck that was too small. The movers knew as soon as they walked the home that truck was not big enough but didn't say anything until the truck was full.

The movers showed up on time and they were polite. However, they forgot tools and I didn't have any tools so I rushed across town to get mine. The movers were appreciative. When the moved our furniture to our new house they dropped my grandpa's antique chair. They broke off an arm and it isn't possible to fix. When we called to discuss the chair with the company on Monday they were dismissive with us. They didn't apologize or anything. Just the way business is at Bird's I guess.

DO NOT TRUST. DO NOT USE. DAMAGE PRIVATE PROPERTY, NO REMORSE. USED DEROGATORY TERMS WHEN TALKING ABOUT ME. FAUGHT WITH EACHOTHER OVER WHOSE IDEA IT WAS TO USE OUR PRIVATE PROPERTY & WHO WAS AT FAULT FOR DAMAGE. Final edit: the "professional care" of the tree was a tie strap... Used for moving... We had to take our own time and money to actually give the tree some TLC that was desperately needed after being left in the state your "professionals" left it in.

I hired Bird’s to move my belongings within my local region. The crew arrived in the morning and began packing items away into the truck. While disassembling my couch, one of the movers stood it up on its side (which was not a smart idea given being an unevenly weighted object). The couch fell over and smashed into our bar cabinet, shattering $600 worth of stemware from my wife and I’s wedding. The glass that shattered all poured out of the cabinet onto my child’s $50 play mat (which is now garbage as well).

The truck was on time and the 2 gentleman that came where pleasant and easy to work with however we where quoted on 3 workers only 2 showed up. Had the 3 of us not pinched in and helped loading and unloading the truck we would have easily have gone over the quoted amount based on hrs it would of taken just the 2 guys even at the reduced hourly rate. With contractors arranged to do other work it was imperative that we stayed in our 7 hr window to coordinate everything.

if you want surprises with your final bill this company is for you! If you expect them to google earth your new location to ensure the size of truck THEY send to you will fit, this is not the company. I got quoted on a service and they did not follow up, using the clause to get me to pay more - note we are the only house in the neighbourhood that a moving company would not drive right up to. Very clever business tactics tho, must give them credit for that.
