Chipman Relocation & Logistics

Chapman movers broke numerous items which were purchased while I was stationed overseas in the U.S.Air Force and I am a "disabled war veteran ". Everything seemed off to a good start. We conducted a video walk through of our home and belongings to note the quantity and weight of our household goods. We specifically pointed out that a lot of our furniture was solid wood and heavy. We were evacuated from a wildfire for a couple weeks right before our scheduled loading date. Chipman was very accommodating, getting us rescheduled to within a couple days of the evacuation order being lifted. Thats where the good news ends.

We moved from California to Idaho in Aug,2016. The guy who moved us knocked a hole in one of the doors in the house we moved out of by tipping a dresser into it, trying to move a heavy piece by himself. He scraped the walls in several places with the hand truck, damaged the thrushold, no protection used, did not have boxes or packing, used what we had, crammed boxes into filthy under the truck compartments ran out of day, came back the next day to finish the move with a car, getting the truck ready to leave the…

This was our first experience with a long distance move and I must say we will never recommend Chipman to anyone other then an enemy. It started with the fact that we paid for insurance to cover any issues with our home furnishings etc. So we were told. The Sacramento portion seemed to go OK with the loading of our home into the trailer. The issues started in Arkansas when the trailer was being unloaded. Furniture was dropped and damaged throughout the day.

Chipman Sacramento was selected to provide warehousing and delivery services for Synergy Airport Logistics. We trained and communicated the proper way to handle our high value freight. All palletized!!!! The warehouse staff did not follow instructions and damaged multiple machines while loading the trucks. It was not an accident! It was undeniable negligence. Accidents cannot be avoided. The staff did not follow instructions! This could have been avoided with trained staff and quality people.

This was one of the worse moves that I have ever experienced. First an $11000 rug went missing and took more than a month to locate and get it to us. During the move there was furniture damage, and in particular our piano which had a Player System in it which was totally destroyed. Fortunately I had dated photos of the damage because Chipman refused to pay for it. They claimed that in some small print gotcha sentence that we moved the piano before it was inspected.

Not good at helping customers. If you decide to use this company, I would suggest reconsidering. The sales people are nice but work on commission and disappear after move day. In regards to move day, Take photos and create an inventory off all of your items. Chipman will take zero accountability about your stuff once you “sign” their paper work. We requested them to pack our closet items. Shoes, clothes, ect.

If I could give a lower score, than one star, I would. Chipman stored our furniture and other belongings for 2 years and when delivered after our new home was built, many pieces of furniture were badly damaged and valuable items were lost or irreparable. Boxes of our belongings are still missing. Chipman’s partner, United Van Lines, was very difficult to work with in settling. Do not be fooled... the fact that we paid full insurance for 2 years did not help one bit.
