In their own words
I have used Flatrate Moving since 2011 for multiple moves in California. I have always been impressed by the quality of service received until our recent move in 2022. Also, they now subcontract out the movers and trucks who are not employees of the company. Think of Flatrate as a broker, not a moving company. We paid a premium to have a complete move out of a 2 bedroom 2 bath apt to a 2 bedroom house 8 miles away. 5K (plus a generous tip prior to understanding the magnitude of the shortcomings).
DONT MOVE…. With Flat Rate Movers, unless you’re fine with your most valuable belongings being STOLEN. I was so excited about moving into my first home, that was VERY short lived, as the day Flat Rate Moving delivered my things to my new home one of the extremely sketchy movers in a cavalcade of SKETCH went into my closet and stole my first anniversary ring I had in my closet. The most valuable thing I owned was stolen and the person working for Flat Rate ran off with it so fast he left his jacket behind.
I moved across the country and it was a fairly good service for the price but beware they contract your move to different moving companies so the quality of service by movers is not the same. It also makes it somewhat annoying to wait to hear back if any movers can schedule your move. Flatrate also charges you a fee, WHICH IS NOT IN THE CONTRACT, if you aren’t able to move within their specified window. Overall okay company but I will consider other options for my next move.
I don’t know if I deleted my google account or how my review is not on this page anymore, but this company was bad enough that I’ll come back and leave another. This company canceled on me with less than 24 hours notice. The amount of fees and rebooking I had to pay to find movers on less than a days notice almost completely ruined my move. Not only did they provide no financial compensation, but took a significant amount of time returning my money. I had to pay two movers at once, or end up overstaying my lease.
Pickup was great. Since then I’ve been peppered with calls daily asking for a contract showing my guaranteed delivery date by the 3rd party company. This company, nor myself, have had any luck getting this from Flat Rate. Their VP of sales, Dejon, who I booked this through, has a full voicemail. Very frustrating.

The whole process from the start of booking to the day of pickup, was great. The agent setting up the move was wonderful patient and pleasant. The day of the communication was kept on when the estimated time of arrival of the mover. The movers as they were closer communicated with. When they arrived they were very pleasant and organized, carful with all my belongings and very clean they did not leave a mess behind.
These guys are great. Reliable, efficient and friendly. I’ve moved cross country with them several times. Very accommodating and offer good pricing.
My cross-country moving experience was so smooth and made extra special! My 2 movers Cesar and Javi were experts in packing my belongings, efficient, responsive, respectful and kind. Moving can be a stressful experience but I felt well taken care of, heard and guided. My belonging were packed with care. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat!
