In their own words
Do not recommend. They tried to change scheduling at the last minute TWICE, they offered a move out clean, the cleaner never showed up so I was unable to find another cleaner at the last minute (so much for my security deposit!) I used their packing service as I am injured (and old), items were damaged, for instance, they wrapped up Tupperware with lots of paper (unbreakable) but threw breakable items in the bottom of wardrobe boxes, crushing, scratching and damaging items that should have been wrapped.
I was referred to this company by Grace moving. I've had lots of experience with Grace moving and I wish I would have been able to use them but because they weren't available they had introduced me to Big Island movers. They sounded professional it seemed like they had a good setup and I was quoted for a certain rate.
The gentlemen from Big Island Movers were excellent. They were very professional. We hired them to move our furniture back in place after our new Flooring was installed. I was upset when a piece of furniture was overlooked and the team had left. I called and asked to have them return as I was charged for an hour and they took 30 minutes to move my furniture back in place. Even though I paid for an hour I was asked to pay another $50 to have the team return and spend 10 minutes to move the overlooked piece.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Big Island Movers. We're glad to hear that the team was professional and handled the initial move with care. However, we regret that there was an oversight and that the situation regarding the extra charge was not to your satisfaction.

The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
Review for Big Island Movers - Modesto, California ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently had the pleasure of using Big Island Movers for my relocation in Modesto, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience! From the very beginning, the team was professional, friendly, and incredibly efficient. I want to give a special shoutout to the moving crew, Fred and Ivan. These two were absolutely phenomenal! They arrived on time, equipped with all the necessary tools and supplies to ensure a smooth move.
I think this might be my favorite review to date! Thank you for the amazing words and happy that our guys were able to meet your needs! We love Fred and Ivan
We were on a time crunch and Big Island Movers in the Modesto CA area were able to help us with a short notice move. The quote was reasonable, and the difficult items to move made it necessary to correct it to the more reasonable price considering the sheer volume of items to move. The conversation about price was very congenial, and fully honest, as there was a considerable number of boxes of paper. The total job was much larger than expected, and it reasonably ended up costing more than the original quote.
Thank you for your kind words, Kathy! We're thrilled to hear you had such a positive experience with our Modesto CA team. Our clients' needs are our top priority, and we always aim to provide the best service. We're glad we could assist you during this time crunch and appreciate your trust in us.
My wife and I just used BIG ISLAND MOVERS in down sizing to a Senior living community. Ivan and Steve arrived five minutes early on moving day. It didn't take long to realize these are real experienced professionals. They made every move they made count as a team. No emptying draws or things like that, because they blanketed and wrapped everything in special wrapping material. These two young men made a hard day into a fun filled quick move day with their efficiency and customers service skills.
Considering I had very short notice to move I was so thankful when I called these guys they were life savers as I’m disabled & packing was hard alone. So when Ivan & Jesus showed up to move me they were very professional & friendly they also really listen to me when I said take this leave this, it was like they read my mind, hey had a lot of obstacles in front of them but they stayed consistently enjoying their job, We moved my thing to a storage facility Im waiting on an answer from my application for a place &…
We will let the guys know about your thoughtful words! Thank you this really does make our day!
