College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Greenville, NC

During my move, my washing machine was dropped and damaged. College hunks basically blamed me for having 3 flights of stairs, when they were well aware of that when we did our in home consultation, and this was listed on my invoice. I signed up for both protections in case anything was damaged. They would not honor the more expensive coverage and would only issue me a $112.00 check for $1700. 00 LG ThinQ brand new washer.

Took a long time to get everything moved (even though we moved almost all the boxes prior, so it was only the larger furniture and my washer/dryer in a two bedroom apartment). Ended up over my estimate, costing $1160 when the estimate was $960. They even added a third person to "make it faster". Took 6 hours to move a two bedroom apartment 15 minutes away. The third person admitted to my sister that it was only his second day and he was still learning what to do.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! This company was great 2 years ago and I left a 5 star review. I watched the founders on shark tank and told my wife that's a company i would use. Yesterday I needed a couch (one couch) moved from Greenville to 20 minutes away. The legs prohibited it from being moved into the destination. It took almost an hour for the guys(who were very nice) to find a screwdriver. This resulted in me paying an additional fee bc it's based on time of service.

Where to start...The owner came out and looked at the move at a storage facility. Said he had the truck to handle it. Day of the move, not everything will fit. So we had to rent a U-Haul to get the rest of the furniture....Extra expense... Get to the new location, the team unloading the truck breaks the leg of a $5,000 dining room table rolling it on a sidewalk....drops a cherry dresser on the steps to the house. Breaks other furniture...then there are only three movers to move a piano.

College Hunks may possibly be the cheapest as far as pricing, but you certainly get what you pay for. Use them at your own risk. After WEEKS of getting the runaround regarding my damaged items, I finally got a manager who of course said all the right things. I was issued a check for my items, but the amount turned out to be half of what was approved & agreed upon.

I am highly dissatisfied with how this company handled a situation that occurred during our move. We used them to help load up everything onto their truck on day one. I witnessed 2 of the movers (one was the lead on the job) drop one of my nightstands onto the truck floor and overheard the lead mover curse because of it. They also damaged another piece of furniture as well. When unloading it on day 2, my husband stated that they did in fact break it.

I made an appointment for an estimate online, the next day a rep from the Greenville office called and asked to reschedule for same day, if possible. As I had told the first person who I made the appointment with that I was out of town for same day and could not accommodate so I called back and left a message detailing such. Nobody ever returned my call so I assumed they would keep their appointment for Saturday, I waited at my house for 2 hours, never a call or email or anything from this company.

I’ll begin by saying that the service rendered was decent, however my work desk was broken in half while loading. I was offered personally by the worker money to cover damage cost but the head driver insisted that I file a claim which was way less than what I should’ve taken from the worker. Also, the labor and fees that’s added at the end of the service was not well explained during the call when I received my quote. Luckily I had the money to cover.
