I initially chose College Hunks because of the strong Google reviews and assumed the negative ones were outliers. Unfortunately, I ended up being the outlier. Or some of those good reviews are for locations outside Lansing that got repurposed here (they have multiple locations in Michigan, including Ann Arbor; Lansing is only one of them) Pros: Movers arrived somewhat on time and called when they arrived. Scheduling online and by phone was easy, and the staff were kind and helped reduce my stress.

Awful. The cheap price is not worth the poor quality service. We attempted to hire college hunks as a labor only move job. Once we realized the team would be at least three hours late, we called and they deployed another team. The new team came from a junk/cement removal job and were supposed to be done hours prior so they were understandably exhausted. Many of our items were damaged significantly. Since I didn't have the luxury of time on my side to take photos of the damage, I was told to submit a claim later.

I am not one to write reviews, but in this particular case, it was really a horrible experience whereas numerous items were broken due to how poorly they were packed. What is so frustrating is that I actually gave 20% gratuity not just once but three times. I have moved three times in three years via U-pack containers. As a veterinarian completing internship, followed by residency, I am living very frugally and on a strict budget, held to non-competes and unable to work outside of programs for extra money.

I want to stress that the guys who moved us were really good, nice guys. Now on to the business side. We expected this move to cost us a certain dollar amount (based on the quote), we were told we would pay everything on the day of delivery (not packing), we were told it would take about nine hours with six guys to pack and load. It cost us $3000 more than we were told, we paid the night they packed and loaded and when they dropped off, it took closer to 14 hours and as many as nine guys.

We will not recommend College Hunks to anyone. It is too costly, inefficient, and chaotic a moving service. It took more than 5 hours and six men to move a few boxes and furniture from our old home to our new house, which is a 10-minute drive away. They also damage the door of the guest bedroom while moving furniture. We are disappointed with the moving services and not going to come back for the next moving or hauling services. Sorry 💔

As the parent of a college student, I called to get a quote for a move out/move in job in East Lansing. Despite having really stellar reviews, I was less than impressed by the rude and condescending service agent who ended up hanging up on me.
