College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Grand Rapids

Our first time using College HUNKS was so good, but this time was so bad. They took more than twice the estimated time, didn’t bring the two full size trucks they were supposed to, so not everything got moved, and they just threw things in our house without regard for where it actually went. Including our bed frames—to which we are missing pieces and can’t find anywhere. (We have been sleeping on the floor for 3 days.) They damaged antique furniture, as well. I am so incredibly disappointed.

Honestly the worst moving company I have gone with. One they come to my apartment with a very small truck because they said they were moving furniture and were not expecting 30+ boxes. Even though the person who estimated knew i would have many boxes due to a large move. The movers went really slow. I told them i had we had to be done unloading the truck in Illinois by 7:30pm centeral time zone. They didn't seem care and took there sweet old time.

My parents chose College HUNKS for their move to a new home based on the company’s five-star reviews, as well as the positive impression they received during their initial meeting with the salesperson. Unfortunately, that positive experience ended there. My mother specifically requested six movers because they have a large amount of furniture and belongings. She was assured that four movers would be sufficient. Unfortunately, that decision proved to be a major mistake.

I have done about a dozen moves, including out-of-state moves, with movers and College HUNKS has by FAR been my WORST experience EVER. To start, we know that we ended up needing more than 1 truck for our move, but training for these young guys is seriously lacking. And I say training because I should not have to direct them on the most efficient way to pack a truck or have to call out that if 2 guys are watching 1 guy take apart a crib, then that's not an efficient use of the $250/hr I'm spending.

This was the worst moving experience possible. 1. They lost my key fob and therefore my move took twice as long 2. They did not bring a big enough truck despite me giving a full inventory. The move took 2 days instead of 1 costing me twice as much. I also regrettably tipped 20% equaling to $100s. They said they were too tired and need to finish tomorrow- understandable but this was a cost I did not expect! If I did not have financial help I’m not sure what I would have done.

I initially gave them a 5-star review thinking that all went well but recent developments made me change my mind to edit the review I gave about a month ago. I even gave the guys a huge tip. At the end of the day, hubby complained that there are dings in our furniture and a broken glass table. Being busy unpacking so we can getmoving on with our lives in our new home, we did not complain and just charged it to experience.

BEWARE! I originally had left a five star review but movers had damaged the entryway and the stairwell going up into my townhome. At the time I had suggested taking the railing off so that we wouldn’t scuff the walls. The movers assured me that Bailey the manager has her boyfriend come around and fix the walls. They took pictures themselves and told me to not worry about it, and I would be contacted on Monday since my move happened on a Saturday.

They moved us same day across the state. The movers (3) were really nice. However, two of us had to help move out and it took twice as long as it should have. There were times where we didn't see the crew for half an hour. (5 hour period). It was about a 3 minute walk and elevator to the truck. When we got to our destination, we waited around for the truck for over half an hour and then it only took 1 hour to unload (although just off of the truck).
