Kyle and Julie were both great all the way through the out of state move. However, on the day of the move my family had an emergency and I stayed home to over see the loading. I was told that all of my furniture would be padded and wrapped before loading. I had to say something several times about our hardwood furniture not being wrapped or padded. The day they delivered. The trailer was a different trailer than what our stuff was loaded in. All our furniture was padded and wrapped.

This was the worst moving company I ever had to work with and I have moved many times. I used them twice, foolishly thinking that the second move would be better since they had such great reviews and recommendations but they were terrible. Both of the times that we used Federal, my furniture was severely damaged. In the first move, almost every piece of my bedroom set has chips and scratches in the wood that we had to give away half of it. Then, in the second move, our couch was damaged.
They gave us a binding estimate for a long-distance move after coming out twice to see everything we were bringing. By their own manual, that means they will deliver all of our goods regardless of weight. After loading everything and bringing it to their warehouse, they said they would need $3,500 more to deliver. When we did not immediately succumb and argued the point, they then moved back the delivery window significantly. They originally had also promised us in addition $100 for every day it was late.

They have serious quality and professionalism issues at several levels of this process. I love my new location and home and we are really happy here. But, Federal Allied has quite literally been incompetent at every step of the way, from planning, estimating weights (they were off by thousands of lbs and STILL didn't take everything - I had 2 uhauls, 1 truck load, 1 car load left to get rid of after), setting dates, keeping dates, communicating, not dropping fragile loads, trying to overcharge for work that was…

I had a bad experience with this moving company. I'm a University of Illinois professor; the University suggested I use this company for the move. I received a quote from Federal to pack and ship 8,000 pounds of material. When the movers arrived, they told me I had upwards of 13,000 pounds. I contacted Federal Companies to get a new estimate. They gave me an estimate that increased my bill by nearly 50%.
When I initially called I told them I needed the move done by a certain date and they told me no problem. After getting a quote and them telling me they would call back to schedule I never heard from them again even after several calls and voicemails

We decided to not choose Federal to move with, but I really appreciated Kyle's service with taking inventory of our home. We were scheduled for a virtual tour but Kyle was actually able to come in person and made the whole process super smooth. Appreciated his communication on things and had a quote within that hour!
Julie was great to work with to get everything organized and set up. She was in constant contact with my husband. It was great. Our moving crew was phenomenal. Matt and his guys were so thorough and careful with our belongings! They moved us out of our house and had our stuff in storage for a month before we were ready for it. Matt remembered almost all of our stuff and where it came from in the house. The move was so easy. Our storage unit fit almost everything except our grill.

It wasn’t the first time I have hired a moving company but I certainly wasn’t expecting such professional and personal service. Kyle visited my home, created an inventory, and gave me a quote. Julie took it from there as my moving concierge, checking on me as my moving date got closer. James and Chris my movers took great care of my items and fun to spend the day with.
