I used McWilliams for my move more than a year ago after they came highly recommended. Crew was yelling and fighting with each other all day, and rushed the job because of this. Multiple dropped/broken boxes, and dings in the walls and floor of my old place causing damage. Last item of the day was a big steel cabinet that the crew decided to tip towards the only other item in the room, a chandelier/light fixture.
BEWARE - McWilliams Moving & Storage and their affiliates lost several of our original artworks and also broke one of a kind artefacts during our cross country move, which they had packed. Their service is neither safe nor secure.
I have moved 3 times with McWilliams and my last experience was horrible. I paid for the replacement value insurance. There were a number of damaged items, so I filed a claim. They took months to reply and after numerous calls and emails, they finally sent a cheque for a couple of items. (I could not cash the cheque, because it referenced full and final payment) They then picked up a number of pieces that they were going to repair (apparently they have that option).

Very disappointed in this company. Our moving weight was underestimated by 3500 pounds and we were charged $2100.00 more than originally quoted. When we complained about the overcharge and stated that we went to McWilliams because they were half the price of the other movers, the Branch Manager said, we should have known something was wrong, if the other movers were higher. We are not professional movers and trusted that the man estimating our move knew what he was doing.
We used McWilliams to move from the South. Driver showed up demanding we meet with him at a time we were meeting already with someone taking care of our property. Driver threatened to leave our belongings. Rest of the move went mostly fine except for a smashed china cabinet. Then this Spring my business was moving and an employee Vickie Meeks came in telling me she worked for McWilliams, could move us across the street etc. We didn't really need help.

My original review the day of or day after was positive one. But then I discovered the items they had lost. I placed boxes in storage with them for the staging process but not all were put on the truck when the move took place and apparently they can't be found. Also they, I think, threw out the pendulum of my antique French granddaughter tall clock, with the paper they took away. It's been 3.5 months of calls every week or so to follow up and the issues aren't resolved.
The most expensive service in Peterborough we just take them because there was not other movers available. Bad choice!! the movers last name Adams, he was very hostile. Taking more than 3 breaks during the moving and charging extra time even when they finish one hour early they said the charge is for go back home, how the contract is an estimation time they charge you whatever they want. Also, they break a lamp shade.

We had an excellent experience with McWilliams. Jordan was fantastic to work with — organized, responsive, and clear in his communication throughout the entire process. On moving day, Travis and his crew were personable, efficient, and handled everything with care. The team made what is typically a stressful experience feel well-managed and seamless. Could not have been happier with McWilliams Moving. We were moving my mom from Peterborough to Oakville. Everything went smoothly until we arrived in Oakville at my mom's new apartment to find the elevator out of service and not able to be fixed for a few days. After some discussion and realizing they could not come back on another date due to being fully booked the guys (trio - all great!) moved everything up 4 double flights of stairs (so eight flights total). Nobody complained and they hustled!
