While this company did a good job in moving, I do not believe the business process was transparent. When I emailed the company I sent pictures, details on the items being moved, etc and was given a quote of 225/hr plus fuel. The actual move it self took 3 hours (my husband timed it); however, the total bill was close to $1,000. This math did not add up for me. 3hr x 225 + gas = 750. When speaking with Josh after the move he indicated that they charge for round trip travel… stating this is industry standard.
I cannot speak to the actual moving services because after the initial call I made to inquire about the company I was put off for two reasons. The first was the man who answered the phone (who didn't give his name) was very cold and robotic. He seemed annoyed that a potential customer was calling. Secondly, they require you to email an itemized list of all belongings and a visit by one of their employees to give an estimate! What the *bleep* is that about???

I have used Newcomer Movers two times. This is an excellent company with very hard working men. They are prompt, handle my items with care, and move at a quick pace so as not to waste my time during the already stressful moving process. The second time I moved the screen of my front door was damaged (this was due to the fact that I had very large furniture moving into a narrow entry way), and the owner replaced my screen immediately.
I've used Newcomer twice. The first time, they moved my piano to my daughter's house and u was so impressed by the price and their professionalism, that I used them again when I moved my whole house to two different locations. The four men worked very hard and were very courteous and careful with my valuables. I would hire them again over anyone else. I highly recommend Newcomer Movers. Josh and his crew are the best.
We made a last-minute decision to hire a moving company to help us move our son to his new apartment in Chicago. My husband reached out to two companies, one of which was Newcomer. It was a Sunday, but they responded right away. The call was professional, so my husband decided to go with them. Josh and Julian showed up at our house on late Tuesday afternoon, after completing other jobs. We told them it was no problem if they preferred to go home and rest and deliver the items to Chicago in the morning.
I have used Newcomer Movers about 14 years ago and my experience with them was excellent. Not one piece of furniture or any other belongings hit a wall or doorway, while things were being moved. They worked quickly and efficiently, not fooling around and taking breaks. Not to mention, they had to stop at two other locations to load up all of my stuff. I had to use them again recently, and again, same experience. Nothing less than professional and courteous.
