Used Reads for our military move mid June. My first impression of the packers was not good. They were rude from the start. They packed one day loaded next. We got our HHG at our new base and we had way more broken items than we thought we would. Our 75 inch TV was among the items that were broke. One of the packers threw a metal tv stand in the box with the tv and it cracked the front. They also damaged two dressers, broke my record player and they broke a ceramic collectable that was very sentimental.
I was forced to use this company for my military move. The movers placed all of my belongings in one room and did not take any of the trash or boxes with them like they were specifically told. The workers were more concerned with leaving before lunch than actually doing a quality job. None of my furniture was assembled which they were also specifically contracted to do as well.
This was a military assigned storage. Awful experience! I put half my belongings in storage because I wasn’t going to be gone long. One year later, upon receiving my shipment, I discovered many missing items. A table, a ladder with a stenciled name on it, and 9 boxes of miscellaneous belongings, mostly dishware, kitchen items and power tools, many things collected over 30 years of living overseas and many items that were inherited from my mother. Too bad I can’t leave a 0 star review! I do not recommend. Military service members be ware. When preparing for your HHG to be picked up there is a section in DPS were it asks for a company that you don’t want moving your items, please put Reads Moving System of Carolina. With my most recent experience, they are the worst. 6 moves over 21 years never witnessed a moving company this bad.
If you care at all about your things, you will look elsewhere for a moving company. In a combined 41 years of military service between me and the wife, and over 20 military moves, this has been by far THE WORST experience, with the highest number of broken items we have ever experienced! And sadly we are not even done going through our boxes. Its so much, that we are considering legal action due to the financial loss. I would rate it a zero if I could.
They damaged all of our big items. All of my colognes are missing, my broom and dust pan are missing. The broke lampshades and antique men's wardrobes. Thing that can never be replaced. It's clear that our belongings were just tossed around. Probably even picked through. Y'all should be ashamed of yourself. It's clear with only 3 stars on google already, you probably just don't care. I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure you don't move anymore military families. Just shameful.

Matt and Peter packed all my stuff for me upcoming military move and was 10/10. Very professional very adamant on my house hold goods being packed appropriately. Gave us time to set things aside. Also Peter didn’t know anything about our move haha. Jk. Next day Chris Greg and his crew showed up on time and was very friendly and quick to taking care of my stuff. Taking care of everything. The movers arrived at my new home on May 2nd. They brought my belongings in carefully, assembled a few pieces of furniture which had been taken apart for the move, and were on their way. The men were professional and respectful at all times. I am pleased that I chose to have Read/Atlas help me relocate.

Most people dont ever find a good moving company because people dont bother to leave good reviews, so let me tell you this is a great one I had Mike Mat Pete. Helping me and they made short work in a few hours what would have taken me a day or two to complete, super friendly and personable which made things alot less stressful then I was worried about. If you get a chance I would work with these guys - a veteran getting out the military and looking forward to going home
