***THEY ARE NOT LICENSED OR INSURED*** even though license is listed on their web page; shame on us for not verifying. When contacted them nearly immediately about a damaged item Kevin Tavares responded via email that he would reimburse us. Multiple phone calls and emails later, totally ghosted. Guess it's time for a lawyer.
I hate having to leave this 1 star, but it's warranted. I called 10 different moving companies to see if anyone had availability a week out, and Kevin was the first one to be kind to me and work with me! My husband is military and had to get to town before me and the kids, so I couldn't be there to help unload the trailer. Kevin reassured me he would take care of us and even laughed about being a veteran and all the curve balls the military throws at you!
I booked Tavares about two weeks ago to help with a move I have scheduled this weekend. We spoke on the phone and we text to confirm my move date. We text again yesterday to confirm what I needed moved TOMORROW and everything was fine. I got a text this afternoon, less than 24 hours before my move that they were cancelling. This left me scrambling to find someone else who could help, and of course on such short notice it was more than double the price I thought I would be paying. Do not book this company.
Hired Taveres to do a move and storage of fine furniture during construction based on a contractors recommendation and 5 star reviews. The disrespect, damage and loss that was caused goes beyond words. Both owner and his son have a laissez-faire attitude about customer service and are not responsive to any communication. Go visit their facility before you engage them in a move or storage, you will definitely reconsider.
Absolutely, horrible experience with damage to our bed foundations, lawn furniture, furniture and over $1000 in shoes that was stored in a wet or damp storage container. The very unfortunate situation is the owner, Eddie Tavares will not …
Guy quoted me almost 500 to move a fridge a mile down the road quote “200 for labor, 100 for works comp, 50 for insurance , 100 for gas “ time to retire bro lol

Eddie and his crew were punctual, efficient, careful, easy to communicate with and did the job for exactly what they quoted. Highly recommend.
I have moved multiple times and used various companies, but Tavares Company has been the best by far. They are highly professional, incredibly fast, and provide excellent customer service. I was amazed at how quickly they completed my move. I highly recommend them for your next move!
Tavares Packing and Loading were a Godsend to me. I sold my house and was ready to move, but the escrow date kept changing. I would call Eddie , the owner, and explain what was happening and he told me each time to not worry and when I was ready he would make it happen. And he did!! Eddie, Kevin and Fernando showed up right on time on the day of my move. He held it on his truck for me for a day and was right on time on delivery day. These guys are careful and fast. To tell you the truth they were fun to be around.
Eddie and his family are great people and together they provide a worry free moving experience for the customers. Our family has counted on Tavares Packing and Loading three times to move our possessions and we'll use them again in time. Competitive pricing, expert care of your furniture and they are Monterey County local. Highly recommend.
