AB Moving Austin

Not impressed with this moving company AT ALL. I work at charitable organization in Austin that helps survivors of domestic violence and used this company to help a client move. They were moving my client from a storage unit to an apartment in the same zip code and they did not complete her move in one day. Very unhappy with my experience. I had used AB in the past in the Dallas area so I am a repeat customer. During our move, the movers constantly wasted time, stood around and even had meal breaks all while we were paying by the hour. They seem to have been instructed to deliberately delay so the clock would keep running and we’d be stuck with the huge bill. We called to speak with management during the move to address our concerns and were shoved off and told to call the following Monday.

TLDR: inexperienced, slow, unprofessional Crew was very slow moving in the beginning till I asked for us to speed up. Crew was hired for packing as well, however packing job was messily done (and they complained about it multiple times). I ended up getting involved and packing many boxes because they’d packed parts of categories of items, but not completely and not carefully.

Be very careful. Hidden fees/trap tactics. I had two storage units to be emptied 10x15 and 10x10 and moved to a residence. I was paying per hour for 3 movers and a truck. THE BAIT AND TRAP: 1 hour into the move they refused to move anything remotely heavy unless I paid extra per item in addition to the per hour rate. That is, they saw the items before they even started and wanted to add extra fees one hour into move. They could have told me about the xtra fees from the outset.

Avoid AB Moving Company. I was quoted $507 total (3 movers at $209/hour, 2-hour minimum + $119 truck fee) by Jessica. Instead, I ended up paying $800 for just 3 hours and 15 minutes. The pricing was not transparent. I was only told upon arrival that it would be an extra $54 for every 15 minutes over. That should have been clearly explained upfront when I booked—not added last minute. The service itself was just as bad. The movers were careless with my belongings and didn’t use any floor protection at all.

This was originally a 5 star review, but a day after I made this review I found that my movers had not put my bed back together all the way after taking it apart to move it. They did not screw in the wooden slats on the frame, they just placed them on the frame and then put the mattress on top. They didn't say anything about it. I could have fixed it myself, but they also took the screws.

Worst experience ever! Do not use them. Moronic manager blames us for their incompetence! We’d used them before, had an excellent team with huge truck and no issues loading or unloading. This time they sent a 15 foot truck and two young guys, one of whom was new, in the dead of summer heat wave to move us. Because dispatch sent the wrong size truck, the guys were forced to unpack and repack multiple times, damaging our furniture and costing us over 1200$ when we were quoted at the most $600.

This is our second time using this company. The first was back in 2013 in South Austin moving from an Apartment to a single family and the job was well done. Based on that experience, I opted to use these guys for our second move from South Austin to North Austin, this went horribly wrong. Our window was from 1-5 and the guy calls me at 4:45 but shows up around 6 PM. The minute they came in, they been complaining that this was there 3rd job and I can see they were exhausted already.
