Bellhop Movers - Austin

They contracted a third party moving company that was clearly unprofessional. They wasted time disassembling furniture that didn’t need to be disassembled even after being asked not to. They carried the parts of a leather sectional couch by the edges and caused rips at the seams. Then they wanted to waste time assembling the easy to reassemble furniture instead of focusing on the heavier stuff like the couch. Be vigilant when loading and unloading to make sure they stay on task.

I am currently moving from Austin to Nashville and was excited to find a mover to load my truck for just one hour, as my move is fairly small. My move is planned this Sunday and I received a call from an associate named "Adriana" last night saying they do not have availability for two movers and they only have one. I asked for a quote for only one mover and she changed the price from $89 to $43 an hour. I was okay with that because, again, I don't have large items and I just need a hand moving.

Quoted for 3 hours and it took them just under 9 hours. I will stick just to the facts, but I assure you this was the worst moving experience ever and I am extremely angry. -I live in a small 900 sq foot apartment, I had 53 boxes almost all medium sized from Walmart and normal amount of furniture for a small apartment and no bed frame. -Nothing from the kitchen was moved, or the bathroom, or the laundry room, or the master closet. -One mover showed up on time and the other showed up 45 minutes late.

No response from Bellhop after issuing complaint when many of our items were broken. Completely unprofessional and incompetent team that were contracted separately without our knowledge. Witnessed one worker just drop a chair he was carrying one handed and completely broke it. The guy didn’t say a word. Also, three large men pressured my wife to give them a tip via cash transfer applications while she was inspecting the truck and I was not present.

I used Bellhop and while i was happy with the movers-except that the original mover called out sick so i had to wait 30 minutes for the back up who was awesome. When I booked, the online estimate was a little under $600 for 3 hours, one truck, 2 pro movers. It ended up costing a little over $1000 vs the $600 that they estimated on their website. One additional hour for the truck would have cost $108 and then for the two movers $61 at $30.50 each. So if anything an additional $169 is understandable.

Update: I would no longer recommend Bellhop. I had a great experience three years ago, but have a completely different experience this time around. Less than three hours before my scheduled move, they canceled and rescheduled for the next day (via a text message). I’m moving my mother from one retirement community to another and have a lot of other items staged in sequence around this scheduled move.

There is a communication issue with this company. It took me hours to hear back from them on move day, when I really needed the support. They use third party for movers and truck drivers, which would be fine, if they would take responsibility for them, but they don't. The night before and the morning of the move-in of a long distance move, I still had not heard from the local movers.

Do NOT trust this company. They make you feel so comfortable and then when you have items missing they will do NOTHING for you because they believe their movers. I regret bringing them breakfast, I regret being nice and helping them move items, I regret telling them to take a break if needed, I regret trusting them. I should have run the operation like boot camp and maybe things would be different. I'm a single mom and had to move on a Friday.
