My daughter moved from NJ to San Francisco for a job. In my opinion this company is unethical and your things will arrive damaged. Among the items that arrived damaged were the 47 inch LCD tv. The NJ movers would not move it in the $25 tv box I bought from Lowes for that purpose, so wrapped it in plastic. Upon delivery it was enclosed in a cardboard box I had never seen before that the moving company apparently packed it in while in transit.
Don’t book CA-NY Express before reading this If you’re looking for a reliable moving company that does a good job, but also does right by its customers when they mess up, I sincerely recommend you keep looking. I am sure that sometimes CA-NY Express (also known as California New York Express Movers, and MoveEast) completes a move smoothly. That was not our experience, and chances are it won’t be yours. Things go wrong.
PRO: movers were somewhat courteous. Estimate process was easy. CON: 1) I received 2 very expensive items BROKEN upon arrival. They will reimburse $0.60 cents per pound per item ($4.20 per cubic foot), which is basically a joke. If you have any expensive furnitures or items, please get separate mover's insurance on your own. 2) Extra charges. Our initial estimate was $1400, and it quickly increased to $2000 - which came out to be a total of $2400 with tip.
They opened my belongings and stole items. I hired them to move and they did move me, boxed stacked way too high when they arrived in NY. There were a few things that were damaged, but honestly I expected that with a cross country move. What I didn’t expect was blatant theft. Someone from this company opened my toolbox, stole a drill and its charger, a circular saw, a screwdriver, and a couple other smaller tools.

I moved a 3BR house of furniture from San Francisco to NYC. A lot of expensive furniture was damaged and broken, so I don't recommend shipping expensive furniture using this mover (boxes were fine). Even if you buy movers insurance, it won't cover any furniture made with MDF and veneer, even if it's high end designer custom furniture. It will be a further hassle to try to recover any insurance money and repair your belongings.
Halfway through our move and the experience is not great so far. We booked our move 3 months in advance and discussed a morning moving window was vital with our sales rep. We get a call 2 days before moving day saying the window is getting pushed back 2 hours. Day of the move, the movers arrived 1.5 hours later than their eta call, and 1 hour later than the already pushed back window.
Was having a pleasant experience until time to book. My sales rep Elizabeth was responsive and answered all my questions, made sure I perfected my inventory and had a great attitude. Once time to confirm booking everything changed, I sent paperwork and asked to leave deposit to lick my date in then the problems started. Elizabeth can’t get anyone in the SF office to confirm my move, not sure if it’s true or not but that’s the answer given to me and now I’m scrambling to find a mover 18 days before my departure.
Moved from San Francisco to New York based off the great reviews. Unfortunately everything the moving company packed on their own was completely destroyed. They shattered an expensive picture frame, dented a garbage can, dented and bent a bar cart, cracked and shattered our tv, and this is only the items they packaged. Everything arrived smashed and disheveled. Our renters insurance wouldn’t cover negligence from the moving company because no accidents occurred.

Great service for a great price! I moved from NYC to SF and couldn’t be happier with the moving team on both ends of the move. I made inquiries with several other moving companies and CA NY Express was far more reasonably priced than their competitors. They provided a professional service and worked with me on paying attention to special arrangements I needed to have met. I’m a big fan of their inventory system to make sure every box and item was accounted for.
I love you guys. While I was using your company to move from New York to Los Angeles, I was simultaneously shipping furniture from Denver to LA. This meant I had to use 2 moving companies (sadly, you guys weren't able to ship my furniture (I'll forgive you someday)). In this way, I was able to compare your company with the other. I can't even begin to tell you the difference. Your professional movers, your access to information, and your all-around demeanor made moving so easy.
I work in the entertainment industry and ship freight and goods regularly for work using the same vendors for years. I have also always packed and moved myself and never had any issues. This was the first super long personal haul and I was terrified to use "professional" movers. I know the horror stories and carelessness that employees can have with products and goods as they toss them in and out of trucks, warehouses, and destinations.
