Not sure how I drew the short end of the stick with this one... I hired Jay's Small Moves for a packing job only. I had alternative plans for the moving portion. My packers came on time and ready to go and finished in close to the quoted time. That's where the positiives end. I needed help due to physical limitations and I feel like I've been taken for a ride. Everything I owned had been haphazardly shoved into boxes with minimal padding (and in some cases, my own clothing used as padding).
The woman who set my appt on the phone FAILED to inform me that I’d need to get insurance. So the mover intimidated me with “suggestions” that if I didn’t buy their premium insurance, then there was a chance my valuables would end up in a shattered pile. “All we could do for you in that case is sweep up the pile,” he said. I declined the insurance and told the mover I was unhappy with how it was handled. The movers were fine.
This company is DECEITFUL!!! DON’T use them. George the guy who quoted me on the phone said around 550 dollars to move my one bedroom apartment to another condo down the road about one mile. They end up charged me almost twice as much. There are three men crew and they moved very slowly so they can charge me more than three hours. JAY’s SMALL Move but they CHARGE YOU TWICE the QUOTE! Jay’s Small Move but they OVER CHARGE YOU!!! They are NOT HONEST!!! DON’T USE THEM. I don’t know where they get the reviews from!!!
The Movers are totally unprofessional. One of the movers used very vulgar language towards staff at the Drop-Off Location of my move. The mover never apologized even after given the chance. Also the owner of the company kept this guy as a mover. I would never recommend this company to anyone are any business.

I recently used Jays small Moving Services for a local move from a 1-bedroom apartment in the Oakland district to a new condo in Oakland on November 10, 2025. I recently used Jay's Small Moves to switch apartments within Oakland. I was looking for someone I could trust to do the move quickly and professionally, and they did not disappoint! I had a team of 3 movers, Chris, Santos, and Oscar, and they were amazing!! They had my stuff out of the old place and into the new in under 3 hours (my new place was only 10min away). They took care to wrap my furniture and pieces that didn't fit into boxes.
My wife and I recently moved from the Peninsula to the East Bay and needed a moving company to help transport our furniture. After my wife found Jay's Small Moves and seeing their great reputation, we decided to book them. We had heard plenty of horror stories from friends and family about moving companies, so we were a little nervous going into the process but Jay's Small Moves completely exceeded our expectations. Roberto and his team arrived right on time and had our condo loaded incredibly quickly.

I recently moved out of my one-bedroom condo in Oakland and used Jay's Small Moves to move my items into a storage unit in a nearby city about 35 miles away. First off, my initial phone call was SO helpful, and I was asked questions like how many boxes I had, large-size furniture to consider, appliances to move, any furniture to dissemble. I was given guidance on how many people in the crew were needed as well as a rough estimate of hours that my move would take, which was helpful in getting an estimate.
