If I could give 0 stars I would. My senior mother used discount movers to move her1 bedroom apartment to another 1 bedroom apartment, that was only over 2 streets. They took her stuff down 1 flight of stairs, and moved her items up 4 flights of stairs. My mother was charged 700 dollars for this move, they also broke her mirror and would not cover the damages.
Victoria you are reviewing the wrong company. That was not discount movers.
I hired this company to move me from my 2 bed apt to a house 50km away. They came at 9am and didn't finish until after midnight! They had to do two runs even though I sent them exact measurements of all my furniture and the number of boxes prior to the move with the concern that they supply a large enough truck. They were also extremely slow, (except when the owner appeared) complained constantly and broke/damaged several of my belongings.
The guys were great! It took them 6 hours, as quoted. They arrived on time and were very polite. I tipped each of them for their service. The only problem was that they tore one of my massage chairs. They told me about it but offered no compensation. I mentioned on the phone, when I hired the company, that I had high-end furniture and my concern was that it would be handled carefully. I was assured it would be. Because of this, sadly, I will not call them again or recomend them.
Hello Saline I would like to thank you for giving us the job. Unfortunately I did not know that your chair was damaged. You should have gave me a call so that I had the opportunity to take care of that problem for you. You can call me any time and we can discuss this further.

The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

Incredible moving experience! The team was right on time, extremely organized, and packed everything with great care. Not a single item was damaged. They were fast, professional, and the price was unbeatable. Highly recommend — five stars all the way!
Thank you so much John for giving us a wonderful review. With all the moving companies that are in HRM we really appreciate that you considered us to do your move THANK YOU.
I used Discount Movers to move my Mother. I do not live in Nova Scotia so it was a big matter of trust to have a company move her, and they made me feel so at ease, and took great care of my Mother! The move was not local, and finding a reasonable price was challenging, until I called Discount. Not only do they have a very reasonable price compared to other companies in Halifax, but they actually came in under their estimate. They also assembled my mother's bed for her at her new place.
Elaina I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to move your mother. Living in these challenging times where it seems like every company is priced gouging we will always continue our standards of reasonable pricing and doing the best job that we can do.
Gold standard of movers! The three fellows, Preet, Jack & Punkeesh (sp?), who did my apt move were freakin' awesome! They had one speed & it was full steam ahead. They worked hard & were careful like what they were moving belonged to them. In addition to being fast & efficient, they are lovely fellows - pleasant & friendly. Also appreciated the gent with whom I made the arrangements - Arnel - he was professional, concise & lovely to deal with.
Peggy thank you so much for the review. I talked to the men about your move they said that you were an excellent customer to work for. For myself every time we spoke on the phone you were very pleasant to talk to. It is my job to make sure that I take your stress away on a very stressful situation.
I cannot thank the team at Discount movers enough for the amazing job they did with my move. Moving is usually such a headache, but these guys actually made it a pleasant experience. I was honestly shocked at the great price I was quoted. I feel like I received premium, white-glove service for a fraction of what other companies were asking. It is rare to find such high-quality work that also fits so well within a budget. The movers were absolutely lovely.
Thank you so much Steven.
