The actual movers were great. The management, not so much. I paid over $1000 ($900+ with a $100 tip) to move a 1BR with balcony 5 minutes away and they couldn’t complete the job. The truck wasn’t big enough to fit everything. I had to get a truck myself and make 2 more trips myself to get everything moved over. I called after the move and let them know I wasn’t satisfied with the service. They said they would find out more details and get back to me. Never heard back.

I rated one star to start review, else I’d have given no stars. If they advertised as: “College Movers - we’ll damage your entryway and furniture requiring repair of both, require your help lifting to finish, and then we’ll argue with you that we should get full payment on the spot”, they would provide accurate representation of services. GP - if you’d like to apologize sometime I’ll amend this review.

The frame of my bed, my mirror, my book shelf and my dining chair were broken. The movers didn’t do a good job of protecting my furnitures. I’m so mad! Very upsetting.
We are surprised & disappointed to see your review. Based on all previous communications we were under the impression that our mutually agreed upon solution was satisfactory. Moving can be stressful; our goal is to eliminate that stress.

In their own words
I would recommend this company to anyone I know! They were very responsive, accommodating, and reasonably priced. It was so nice to have 2 guys show up with the truck at your doorstep. No hassle with renting a truck, pickup, gas up, return, etc. You pay an hourly rate from the time they show up (they were prompt, which is great) to the time they are done. No minimum and no extra hidden fees. The guys who did our move were very respectful, friendly, and strategic in wrapping/ packing to ensure no damage.
We had a two truck move that came under the estimated time/cost because we had four solid movers working the job. We did end up having an issue with our table (stripped screws due to torque of moving throw multiple doorways). The owner personally came out to see what the issue was the same day of the move. He was going to repair it, but I had my father-in-law (who does carpentry on the side) repair it. The owner of the moving company did allow a discount due to this issue.
I used General Purpose Movers for a move out of state from Wisconsin. I called and talked to Taylor. He gave me a quote over the phone and said that it was an estimate, that he'd need to look at my things to really know how much it would cost. We set up that appointment, he came on time to my house and then gave a quote that was within $250 of what he estimated over the phone. Something that was really important to me is that Taylor spoke to both me and my husband.

First of all, I'd like to say that the 3 gentlemen that came to help me move were AMAZING!. They were kind, respectful, encouraging and very hard workers. Moving can be miserable but these guys made it such a smooth experience for me. Originally I was only expecting to have 2 movers show up, but they sent three. I was not expecting the rates to be more because of the extra helper, I assumed I would still be charged the rate we had agreed on.
