*Update* We have received a “settlement agreement” that, among other things, says if we want to receive compensation for our damaged item, that we are not allowed to say or write anything negative about Gentle John’s or it is implied that legal action will be made. I am foregoing the nominal reimbursement because I believe it is more important to give an honest review about this company than to be bought. Deceptive and dishonest.
******UPDATE****** The owner refuses to respond to emails regarding claims. My claim has been denied. One reason stated was because we moved our stuff out of storage ourselves. …
Hi Jonathan, We apologize that we fell short during your moves. There are no excuses for two of our teams on two different days, not maintaining our company standards. Did you reach out to the office with your conserns?
IT TOOK 5 HOURS ($1024.35), I was quoted 2 movers for 3 hours (around $500). If I had known it would’ve taken that long to move two bedroom apartment worth of stuff (one adult: 2med boxes of clothes, 2 kids 3med boxes of clothes) I would’ve just told them to take the big furniture and moved the smaller items myself so that it would’ve been cut down to a couple hours.
Do not use this company. They bid the job saying it would not go over the cost. And ended up charging 1500$ over the original quote. They didn’t put anything back together like they said they would. They lost parts to furniture and my wife’s grand piano needs repair after the improperly placed it with the weight on the hinges. They placed heavy speakers on top of boxed full of glass fixtures. They said they ran out of time and basically stacked the boxes in no particular order and left.

Unfortunately, this is a poorly advertised company with a catchy name. I moved into a brand new home in Sherwood. I explained all the previous issues with moving companies and was assured I would have none. Gentle John's damaged my walls, my floors, broke 3 pieces of furniture and grossly overcharged me. The final cost was also not what I was quoted. They also forgot to load my entire office into the truck despite doing a pre-walk through. I called and spoke with someone after the move about my issues.
This place is a joke. This moving company is made of of a bunch of kids who are lazy who don’t care about your things they not only broke my microwave, but they scratched my $2000 desk on top of that they left my house wide open didn’t shut the doors when they were done and we’re talking to their loved ones or whoever they were talking to when they were working not even paying attention to what they were doing when I asked who I should contact about my broken stuff, they simply said call our corporate office…

I spent nearly 1400 on a 2 day move and I am not happy. Things got cracked and lost. And when we called them about art work that never made it to the new place we got the run around for 3 weeks. And now they are saying it was so long ago that now there is nothing they can do because the drivers most likely wont remember. Its been this long because you kept promising call backs that didn't happen from your end.

Sorry about your experience Thomas. We strive to deliver excellence but your move was paid for by someone else. That party had a hard limit on what the cost could not exceed. We were pennies away from this overage as it is. The crew moved as much as they could, as quickly as they could.

Cannot say enough great things about these guys! Great customer service, movers were very friendly, efficient, thoughtful, careful, neatly placed boxes where I asked them to, picked up after themselves and treated my things with such care. Wrapped furniture in blankets, then plastic and secured all with tape. Price was fair and well worth it. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat!
