Hilldrup

Rick Locke is a con artist, liar, and thief. He had me prepay over $4,000.00 to move. His estimation of the storage unit and truck for the job was absolutely wrong. Rick doesn’t own any trucks. The company that came to do the job was a third party independent contractor that rented a truck. The three guys that showed up to do the job were unprofessional, aggressive, and rude. They had the “I just got out of prison and now I’m doing this” look and attitude 100%.

We used Hilldrup for a cross-country move and were very disappointed. The first main problem was with the quote, which from what I understand had to be based on weight under federal law because of the inter-state nature of the move, yet we later learned was likely highly inflated in terms of the actual weight of the goods moved. The second main problem was that the moving crew treated our items like they were picking them up to bring them to a junk yard.

DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE STOLEN FROM. The actual movers were great, but upon picking up the empty boxes, a third party group was hired because no movers from Hilldrup were available. During the pickup or the boxes, our new mattress was delivered, unbeknownst to us. The third party did not tell us about the delivery, and when we closed the garage directly after his departure, the box was not there. It wasn’t until tracking the package later that we discovered it was delivered and then subsequently stolen.

Over the years I have moved multiple times around the country, but recently I experienced the worst move of my career with Hilldrup. My furniture was placed in storage during which time (without my knowledge) it was moved from one facility to another. When my goods were delivered to my new residence, there were several damaged pieces. Aside from the damage, I have had to contact my coordinator multiple times to initiate a response. A week later we still have no plan of resolution.

Did a walk through of my brother's house and said everything was good to go. Then right before Christmas, Ann Marie didn't even step foot in the house and bailed on my brother on site with ZERO explanation. I had to fly down just to help him move in order to get him to his new job on time. Do NOT use this company! EDIT: They did not come in the house so the response from the owner does not make since, they bailed without entering the house.

Movers actually did a great job packing my stuff but the main guy/driver caught an attitude with me as the home owner on the 2nd day of their packing. The guy literally threw the F bomb at me. I wouldn’t take such abuse so I threw him multiple f bombs back making sure he know who’s property he was on and I’ll have him thrown off my property and not get paid for all of the work they did. After that, he straightened out and worked like he was supposed to. But very UNPROFESSIONAL.

There are 2 black guys at the dock for ROADIE that are verbally aggressive towards drivers. Who is their One with dreads and another big guy with a short cut. Maybe it’s their first time having any “power” as grown men. They are abusing it the way they speak to people pulling up to load their vehicles to do deliveries. Intimidation is wrong. Drivers just want to scan and go. Not be harassed with questions unrelated to the scanning process. HR should retrain. Who is their onsite supervisor?

I am giving this company 1 star and you can decide if you want them to be your choice in a moving company. Know this. When they tell you their storage facility is climate control this …
