Hoekstra Moving Company

They charged me almost twice what was quoted both pickup and delivery fees, items were "missing" and not returned to me and things were broken. When they wanted payment they were rude and threatened "action" if they didn't receive payment by a certain date. I wouldn't recommend or use again.. sorry guys.

I am sharing this because I am so disappointed in this company and the owner, Nate. After the move, my husband called and left a message with the office to please call which Nate failed to return so I called him. We moved approximately 8 miles from our old home to our new one. Nate and my husband agreed on 2 trucks - Nate told my husband we were only a hop, skip and jump away if it was necessary to take one of the trucks and go back to get any remaining items.

We originally hired Hoekstra to move us out of our home; arrange for storage of our home’s contents and then move us into our condo several months later. Our interactions with the moving team were great. But on the business and estimating side there was lots of confusion. Jobs were underestimated and then additional charges applied. At the point where we scheduled our final move in we were contacted by Hoekstra staff and asked where our things had been stored. And did we have a key to the storage facility.

*Be advised this company purchases google reviews. They offered me compensation to take down our review.* I would never recommend this company. I was excited to use them as their initial quote was super helpful. However, the move was an absolute disaster. The packing started off poorly as what they said would take 3-4 hours in the morning took 8-9. They didn’t even get everything packed up, we still are waiting to take loads back to our new place.

Hoekstra movers broke a lamp, a wood tv table stand, and my 45 inch Smart TV. They also failed to unwrap my desk, it was shink wrapped. I wouldn't recommend this company at all. Go with Two Men and a Truck. I've used them 3 times, no problems at all. I'm adding to this review that I was told by the manager of the apartment complex that I moved from that there was a chip out of my counter top and a purple stain on my counter top. My counter tops were in perfect shape when I left my apartment.

We used Hoekstra moving in early August. I was quoted for 4 moves, but only had 3 on the day of the move. Moving out took way longer than expected. To make matters worse, I was charged 60% more than the quoted amount. I haven't been able to speak to anyone at Hoekstra about this because they won't return my calls. This feels like a bait-and-switch. I'd look elsewhere if I needed to hire a moving company. Moving is hard. You don't need them to make it any worse.

Havent used them but a neighbor used them and they blocked my driveway while delivering to them. Places shouldn't block non customer driveways especially when there was room on the customers side of the road and they could have backed into their driveway. I had to wait to get out of my driveway. This is unacceptable business practice and should not happen no matter the circumstance.
