In their own words
My movers were lazy, damaged some furniture, ran into overtime because they were lazy and very unprofessional. I have used Hopkins in the past and my experience was completely different this time. Would not recommend.
Hi Ms. Wells, We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with your moving experience. We strive to have a 100% customer service rating. Please feel free to call the office your earliest convenience and ask for me. I am the Owner and President of the company. Our phone number is [phone removed].
I used Hopkins and Sons for a move, and then was part of a move one week later with 2 men and a truck. The difference was distinct, and I have no other affiliation with either. Both companies accomplished the move, but the Hopkins and sons crew did not do what the estimator represented. First, the estimator encouraged me to leave my metal filing cabinets filled, and said that the crew would load them as is.
I recently completed a move with Hopkins & Sons and the results were mixed. While they did a decent job of protecting our property (both our house and our goods), they failed miserably on being accountable for a lost ladder. When I realized the ladder was missing and brought it to Hopkins’ attention, I was told it must be my fault – I must have leant to a friend or family member, or it will show up at the new house.
Mr. Gerhardt, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to address them. As mentioned in our previous email exchange, my intention was simply to suggest that, in some cases, items may be unintentionally misplaced…
I was quite dissatisfied with every step of this process, and will not be recommending or using Hopkins and Sons in the future. After signing the contract to move, I didn’t hear anything from the company for 2 weeks. I called to double-check that my pickup was still scheduled, and was informed that I missed instructions to call and finalize the details. Whereas I accept that this is my shortcoming, I would have expected a courtesy call or email saying that my move was not finalized.
Mr. Izzo, I am sorry that your opinion of our companies’ procedures and services did not exceed your expectation. We performed an internal review, and we did see there were numerous communications 48 hours prior to your move.
Absolutely ridiculous. We used them 6 months ago, they were great. Now that they have a new estimator (the one previously used had retired) named Chris, tried to charge over $2000 to move 25 pieces. They tried telling us that we had 58 pieces??? They charge by the piece??? AND by the hour??? They tried telling us that they needed 4 guys to move and 8 hours!!! Everything is packed away already and we are moving everything ourselves other than the big furniture. That is absolutely insane to me!!!
Hi Ms. Lukens I am sorry you had a bad experience with our estimating process. Chris has been with our company for over 5 years in the capacity of an estimator. It is my understanding that the move you are comparing this to previously was based on one household and now there are two.
Chris r. Came out to give an estimate. We were moving furniture. He would not even enter our house. Our house is not unsafe. He said his guys would refuse to take the job. Refused to check out what we had neatly packed. He judged us within five seconds. There was little explanation and no discussion.he was the pits.
I am sorry about the experience you had with our Sales Representative. He is well established with our company and made the decision that we could not service your moving needs due to the conditions of your home.
Very, very bad job. Would Not ever let them do anything more for me and my family. Terrible company, would not recommend them for nothing...
Hi I am the owner of Hopkins and Sons. We are sorry that you possibly had a bad experience with our company. We have no record of your move with us in our local or intestate data base. Please make sure you have reviewed the correct company.

In their own words
Hopkins & Sons was recommended by my neighbor, and I'm glad I took her advice. My son had to move from a 3 bedroom house in Wilmington to New Castle, but he had emergency surgery a bit more than a month before the move. Amy, the coordinator put me at ease and relieved my anxiety by answering all my questions. The crew arrived early, worked efficiently and carefully to finish early, saving us some money. Everything arrived in great condition.
Fern, Thank you for your review. We are grateful and appreciative. We are glad you had a wonderful experience.
Great experience with Hopkins. Terrific staff. Incredibly professional, responsive and transparent. Amy (who was my main point of contact), Chris (who did the super efficient remote consult) and Dino (who lead the moving team) were all pros and were just great people. Fair pricing, very easy to deal with in every phase of the process and I was really happy with the move.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a great experience with Hopkins. We truly appreciate you recognizing Amy, Chris, and Dino — we’re lucky to have such dedicated professionals on our team.
I hired Hopkins & Sons for my GF, who was moving in with me in PA from her house in MD, and they were tremendous. She was able to sell her house way quicker than we had anticipated, and we had very little time to organize movers. I've used this company exclusively for the last 5 years for every move (both personally and professionally for my business), and there is no other company that I'd trust more to handle my move.
Hi Daniel! Thank you for your review and for choosing Hopkins & Sons We truly appreciate your honest feedback!
