Asked for 3 men - got 2, they scratched a wood floor during the move. If I had the 3 men I asked for, my sons move wouldn’t have taken almost 4 and a 1/2 hours. I am very unhappy, this wasn’t worth the $750 I paid. McCabe movers...you came highly recommended, but I sure won’t recommend you to anyone! I’m a very unhappy customer.
When I requested a quote and tried to explain what I had they were very rude and have a flat fee per hour based on 6 pieces of furniture and 10 large and 10 small boxes in each room... when I explained that I am getting all new furniture …
This is actually a zero rating. I booked my move in June and requested that upholstered furniture be shrink wrapped in plastic. (To prevent any spread of bedbugs). I received a confirming email that of course wrapping would add time, but yes, items would be wrapped. The afternoon before my July 15th move i called the office to remind them about the plastic wrap and was told that “we don’t have plastic— we don’t do that.” Long story short i responded loudly and strongly (but no expletives or name calling).

I recently had McCabe’s moving move me to my new residence. The three young men that came out were not only very prompt, but were very respectful and worked very hard. They were very accommodating and honored every request I had. It was a very humid day yet they worked quickly was very careful with my belongings. I would not use any other company for my moving needs.
Well I’ll tell ya’…. Jim McCabe and his employees are top notch. Jim is a genuinely likable guy. Matt, Nick, and Rohan handled the majority of my move. Two other gents came out when the hot tub was delivered last. The company literally bent to my needs and offered storage at a reasonable rate when my closing was delayed. The guys were fantastic in terms of taking care of our “stuff” and never complained, even with my 400 pound wood stove!
This is the second time I used McCabes in six years, this time coming back to CT from MA. The first time they scratched two night stands, not horrible, not great, and I didn’t say anything. This time a bit more careless and scratched an expensive coffee table and my wine cooler. Maybe not the best for long distance moving? This was a temporary move while I search for a condo, but I won’t risk another move with McCabes when I do eventually find my next residence…sorry.
Wow, 4 young guys, one truck, and everything from our 2,400 sq. ft. home moved flawlessly across town in under 6 hours. Real nice and professional crew who did the job with exceptional care and attention. They were so accommodating and willing to go the extra step and made a few ( ok a lot) of changes for us after the original placement didn't seem right. McCabe's Moving is an absolute must booking if you want your experience to be 100% positive.
