College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Hartford

Steer clear, my quote was a total bait and switch, items damaged, no response from the company. On the day that I was supposed to receive my walk through and quote I received a call from the “hunk” asking to reschedule. Luckily I had a buffer built in for my move date. I was told my move was considered small and would require 3 workers for 4-6 hours. This also included switching bedroom furniture with a bedroom in an elevator building .25 miles away. From start to finish the move was a disaster.

Would not recommend their moving services. The movers themselves were great, but the time of the job was significantly underestimated by management personnel. The company came to the house and did a walk through to see what needed to be moved when developing the quote. We ended up moving about 20% of it ourselves prior to moving day.

My furniture went into storage for two months and I let the Hunk’s movers do their thing at the storage facility without micromanaging… was appalled after to see the house of cards arrangement of my things when there was plenty of room to stack things properly with heavy things on the bottom. Sure enough, the most expensive piece of furniture, a sectional, was damaged as were other items.

We used College Hunks for our move which was scheduled for 10AM. I was told that they would come between 10-11am. No one showed up and I did not receive a call regarding any delays. I called the office and they said they would have someone call me back. They told me it was moved to 11:30 and to check my email- no emails found. Someone called and said they were running late and then would arrive at 12:30pm. Still no one arrived or called- finally they called back and now said 1:30.

inconsistent. reached out for a quote, a majority of our moving was done, only big items left that we were unable to move as I am pregnant, and my husband has a bad back. was quoted one price, got disconnected, and re-called. was then quoted a price $900 more than the first quote. they could not explain where the price difference was coming from only that "it is what it is". hung up and called a third time and got an entirely new price.

Hire this company at your own risk. If they damage your furniture be prepared to chase them down to do what they claim they are mandated to do (60. cent per pound x 10 lbs= 60.00 dollars . They damaged a desk of mine and chipped my Marble kitchen Table in 4 places. When I complained they were slow to respond and only stated they would pay 60.00 for the desk and claimed the Table was already chipped (which it wasn't). This happened on May16th 2022.

Movers were so nice , on time and professional. The issue was when I called for a quote. I asked about a treadmill. I specifically asked if they could take it down and move it downstairs. They told me that yes they would do that for free. When the movers got here, they looked at it and said nope they can’t take it apart and move it. The whole move which was only one bedroom with little furniture in a room cost me $450.

Elder abuse. My parents recently moved and hired College Hunks to handle tge moving. The gentleman that moved them were courteous and helpful. Unfortunately during the moving process my parents 65" television was scratched in the center. Both Tv's were wrapped in their own sleeves (which my parents paid extra for) but tge larger TV still ended up damaged. My parents called and made the office aware.
