I have moved a dozen times, and hired movers for half my moves, and I can unequivocally say this is the worst moving company you could possibly hire in the entire DC/MD/VA area. Unprofessional and inexperienced, these movers will not only misquote you by hundreds of dollars, they will also break everything you own. Everyone from the movers to management are extremely rude, and constantly attempt to deflect blame for issues back onto you, despite obviously being at fault.
I would NOT recommend this company. I would have given them zero stars if that was an option. On the day of our move I waited until the the window for arrival had closed and then called the company when no one showed up. They told me they were not sure what was going on because the local crew was handling our move. The local crew called me and told me the truck "broke down" and they would not be able to come that day.

WARNING Horrible Company - DO NOT BOOK!!! I was booked for a in person estimate and staff took me off schedule without notice! The only reason I found out was when I called to verify! I finally spoke to Robert and complained. He told me they received a large contract that will tie up their staff and trucks. So I was removed from the schedule without notice! Very unprofessional. He apologized but he didn't even bother to notify me especially when he was the person who scheduled me.

I am having this company blacklisted within the DMV. Movers are great but the staff is unprofessional and lacking experience. They gave me a weight limit via e-mail then the General Manager sent an e-mail that they never weighed my HHGs. Do not utilize this company. I promise you that you will regret it. I have advised all military bases within the DMV to blacklist this company. Just terrible!

I can understand your frustration, but you never secured our services. Not only did you not submit a deposit to make a reservation, you never acknowledged the proposal we sent you. There was no agreement in place. I hope everything worked out with your move.

We just completed a very complicated move, or really a series of moves: staging a 4 BR house for sale (so lots of stuff moved out), while moving someone IN from a 1 BR apartment; then moving the rest of the contents into storage for two months; then moving all the stuff to a different state, just after a major blizzard. At every step of the way Metropolitan delivered for us: responsive, prompt, clear, and careful with our belongings. Was it cheap? No. Did everything arrive safe, sound, and unbroken? Yes.
They were fabulous. On time, courteous, friendly, careful, and competent. Nothing broke. The guys couldn't have been nicer. The final charge was under estimate!!!!
We used Metropolitan Moving and Storage 11 years ago and I was extremely impressed then. Just used them for the second time, and can’t say enough good things. 6 men descended on my house and in under 3 hours had everything padded, wrapped, moved out and stowed on their trucks (we had pre-packed our own boxes ourselves). After a short drive, they showed the same care moving everything into the new place in about the same time. This included disassembly/reassembly of several pieces of furniture that are not easy….
Metropolitan Moving & Storage, over the course of a three day pack out and moving job, is and has been the best company to work with for valuable and cherished items. From the initial survey visit to the final box going in the truck, the entire team is courteous, professional, efficient, nimble and totally helpful in every aspect of clearing out a large apartment belonging to parents who have passed. Additionally their storage capabilities are very flexible for both short and long term storage.
