Horrible experience. When I went to add a day I was told it would be fine only $40 and my bill was increased over $500 with no explanation. The staff was not helpful, and they made no effort to alleviate any issues, I was put on hold multiple times and then hung up on when I tried to fix it. I had to go to the actual building and talk to someone in person to get it fixed.
This place needs some cultural competency training with customer service with Native American customers. I came here with my dad to return the U-Haul I rented from Minneapolis to Rapid City during labor day weekend 2023. I thought it was supposed to be a special move since I was returning home. They treated my father and I with so much disrespect. First they asked my dad what he was doing there as if he was just loitering inside the U-Haul business. He has brown skin and I have lighter skin tone.
When I got there, my truck wouldn't start and this was before they opened.So I called their service number. They were unable to help me in any way.Other than tell me to wait until somebody got there. When the person finally arrived after waiting an hour in their parking lot, the person said they couldn't help me.They had more important things to do. I then asked if I could just switch trucks , and she said , there aren't any more available even when they had multiple trucks in the lot.
I did use this location a lot in the past. But I will never use it again or even recommend anyone to use it. I will leave reviews on every site. The older, elderly gentleman was prejudice against myself. We were one hour late returning the equipment, but he was in a rage and upset. Seem to scare other staff as well. I had five people present. I didn’t mind a late fee, but he wasn’t having it. AND YES I AM NATIVE AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Made a reservation a month ago for a 20ft truck, yesterday asked to move it up a day because of incoming weather. Was told another reservation made after ours was given priority and we would get a smaller truck and a trailer instead. Go today for pickup and there are no trucks of either size for a few hundred miles.
Got there 15 minutes early and was 3rd in line. I'm not giving 1 start because of the equipment. I'm giving 1 star because of how embarrassed I was. I had to give 2 references. While searching for one and getting frustrated from the wait …

Our U-Boxes were delivered to this location, and although there was some initial miscommunication between the staff and us, everything worked out well in the end. Michelle and Mark were especially helpful, they did an excellent job setting up the U-Boxes on the trailer and assisting us in transporting them to our house for unloading.

Rented a pickup and 6x12ft trailer. The pickup was brand new, clean and had the new car smell! This location hooked my trailer up and sent me on my way. Very helpful and friendly people. A nice experience. Definitely recommend!
