University Moving and Storage

I would highly recommend you to not use this moving company. Yes, they had a reasonable price and the moving crew was nice and chatty. They were reckless with our furniture and boxes and even dropped our expensive armoire on the ground because one of their crew members was showing off and chose to move this heavy item off the truck by himself. The money they gave us to repair the armoire was minimal.

What a traumatic experience. First quoted $17K to move from Michigan to California then after we balked, dropped the price to 12K. Salesman was brief and under estimated the load by 4K pounds, which we later learned only screws the truck driver as he's independently hired through North American Van Lines. Day of load, not all of our things fit on the 1st truck "surprise" (Angelo the driver was awesome, thorough and organized) other than some plates being broken which we could have packed better, everything else…

I was assigned this company for a PCS move. On the scheduled day, the crew did not complete the job and the team lead lied to my face saying that they were unable to do the unpacking which was included because they had two more jobs after mine. I found out later this was not true and we were their only job that day. The following day, Casey and another crew member came to finish and left our stuff so disorganized that my 1 year old twins are pretty much confined to their room until we sort out the mess they left.

If you want your next door neighbors angry at you then pick this company. For 3 days they left their big van on our cul de sac, which has little on street parking to begin with. Then when I got home from work they totally blocked my driveway, We are the next door neighbors, they were unloading the house next to us. When I talked to the person in charge he said that they need to keep it that way all day. I said OK cuz I wasn't going anywhere that day.

A brutal experience from start to finish. App. 30% of furniture is damaged. DO NOT USE THEM. We decided to use University for a cross country move based on reviews. Kevin was incredibly convincing as he came and did the estimate. There ended all pleasantries. 1) They decided to come pack days before the move date. This is fine, but we HAD NO IDEA. 2) We were assured about the quality of the "air-ride" quality of their trucks. Our household was loaded onto a train cart.

University Movers quoted one price that was reasonable as i had everything boxed and packed in a storage facilty. When my stuff was delivered the price was almost $2500 more. Then my inventory list was 'lost'. To add insult I've found more and more things 'missing' that obviously has been hand picked from my belongs - mostly tools, dvds, etc. unfortunately as my stuff had been stored for a month before delivery there was no way to prove what was stolen without the lost inventory list.

Called to get a quote and Dave communicated that it would be no issue for my move (equivalent of a studio apt moving cross country). After a couple days of not answering my calls or texts, they had the audacity to send me an email and …

So disappointed with this move and zero offers from the to make things right. Didn’t put my bed together, broke my hutch, left boxes at the old residence, made me run supplies around. Very disappointed
