In their own words
DONT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY LIE, STEAL AND GASLIGHT! They send 3rd Party Movers and give you a new contract with higher prices after half your things are packed on their truck. They will hold your things hostage for weeks even afterwards. Give you a random window of 5 business days to drop your things off. They are notorious for holding your things hostage until you pay their inflated rates. Oh and we had money and cards stolen from us. We had transactions in Jersey when we’re heading to SC.
My experience with 51 States Relocation has been a nightmare. When they arrived to pick up my belongings, they handed me a completely different contract and told me my shipment had gone from 500 cubic feet to 1,500 cubic feet. My price went up by about $5,000 at the last minute. I felt like I had no choice but to agree because they were already loading my belongings.
I didn't know there were 51 states, but after my experience with 51 States Relocation, I'm convinced the extra one is a state of pure chaos and regret where lies multiply faster than their "unforeseen fees." We initially contracted with this company for a move from New York to Denver, Colorado. Due to a change in circumstances, we needed to modify our destination to Washington, DC—a significantly shorter distance (approximately 1,200 fewer miles).
they moved my stuff from ny to texas charged me extra 1100 dollot on top what i paid. took forver to drop my stuff and every single item came broker. i called them twice to file complain and i was told manager will call you back noboby ever called me back. they dont care . i dont recommend this company
**BEWARE** this company was outsourced to us for a furniture pick up including a 900lb gun safe which is why we hired a moving company! They raised our initial quote from Coastal Moving Service by $800! BAIT AND SWITCH!!! coastal moving company was zero help! They also had nothing to properly move a safe! We had to supply a floor dolly to them to move the safe. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!
51 States were the mover that the broker (Coastal Movers) that we worked through. I would avoid both companies in the future. I’ve written about CMS directly. 51 States gave us a pick up window of between 4-7pm and after numerous calls to …
5 Days since our move and ZERO contact, impossible to get a hold of them since we will only be hearing from their dispatcher between 3-5pm. As far as we know, our belongings are gone. Stay away. …

In their own words
I honestly thought my tall cabinet was gonna get scratched to death. but 51 States Relocation LLC wrapped it like this tight plastic cocoon, corner protected, not a single edge exposed. Team was kinda quiet, just focused, double-checking the seams like it was his own furniture. fair price, reasonable rates. local moves can feel chaotic… this one didn’t. Total reasonable price for the peace of mind. Would you trust anyone else after that?
This was my second time working with 51 States Relocation LLC, and the experience felt even smoother than the first. The crew was friendly, calm, and easy to work with throughout the day. They handled everything with care and kept a relaxed but professional attitude, which made the whole move feel comfortable. What stood out most was how natural the interaction felt. They stayed focused on the work but were also genuinely kind and easygoing.
Books are the classic packing mistake because they feel sturdy. A big box of hardcovers hits fifty pounds fast, and that's when handles tear. Use small boxes and keep them under forty pounds, spines down and pages flat. Crews at 51 States Relocation lift hundreds on a Hillside move. The small-box rule saves backs and boxes alike.
Labels work until the stack is four boxes deep and you can only see the sides. Colored tape fixes that. Give each room a color, wrap a strip around every box that belongs there, and put a matching dot on each door frame at the new place. The crew then follows the colors blue to the bedroom, green to the kitchen, red to the living room. A Clark household that color codes cuts the unpacking guesswork in half.
