Harrington Moving & Storage

Less than 1 star! Horrific! NEVER use them for moving or storage! Not climate controlled! Damaged items, photographs ruined from moisture, broken china, glass, mirrors, mildew mattress, pillows, linens, clothing! Everything damp! Stained, smells, and sticky (it's because it's in a pine box in a warehouse (garage). Items lost, stolen, received a child's bed, dresser, toy chest when I pulled my stuff out of storage! Jeff is a thug!

We used Harrington Movers for two moves in 2015. First we moved items from our home to their storage facility, then a 2nd move to a rental house to await our new home to be completed. The first move was uneventful. However, more than a year later I am still reeling from the 2nd. The move was terrible from the beginning. Despite coming to our home and being shown the basement, attic and all storage spaces, the estimator gravely underestimated the job.

I personally would never use them again. I was under the assumption they were coming from Hackensack nj but they traveled from Maplewood nj. They charged me $170 traveling fee. They gave me an estimate of $1000. Then charged me $1200 to move 5 blocks. They broke my treadmill, my son's $500 computer desk, a chair and tried to cover it up. Me Harrington wanted to pay me 60 cents a pound. Just another unworthy moving company. Never never never again.

If you are looking to be over charged and have them steel your belonging, then they are the mover for you. I was a client and they stored my belonging for a couple of months. When I called to have my property returned, multiple items were missing and broken. For example all of my chandeliers were not properly store and on delivery were broken. Several items were not delivered (example my racing bike value 1500)and they consider lost. Please make certain that you take out insurance to cover your belonging.

negative experience, details below. stay away. was quoted $550 to move three small pieces of furniture pricey but I ageeed). got a call the next morning advising unilaterally that it would be $750 instead of $550 for the time I requested. after back and forth it was $550 again. on the day of, I could not get a copy of the coi I had requested multiple times, and there was again complete confusion on the time we had agreed to.

We used this moving company to pack and move our home . The trucks loaded , instead of using the driveway , tried to go out over the lawn. Sunk the truck up to its hubcaps. After we moved , my brother got very ill and a few months later died . Because I was busy caring for him , taking him to doctors hospital and finalizing his estate , I didn’t get down to basement room where my antique piano was placed. After he died I went down to find the case had been ruined and all the keys broken.

I have moved 7 times over the last 40 years and unfortunately, I found Harrington Movers to have caused the most damage and to have the worst customer service. If you plan to use them make sure you have plenty of insurance, document all your valuables and keep on top of your items to insure they don’t get “lost”. The actual team of movers were quite nice and courteous however Jeffry Harrington was rude/unprofessional.

My 85+ year old parents hired Harrington to move them from their home of 45+ years to a nearby apartment. The company is supposedly experts at moving antiques. So far, we’ve found the crew broke an antique small table and mirror. By itself, not inexcusable as things break in moves, especially delicate antiques. That said, what shocked us is the Harrington crew made an “executive decision” to “repair” the broken items with glue and staples in the parking lot and neglected to inform us.
