ACM Movers Chicago - Moving Company

Do not recommend this company for a cross-country move. We booked back in April for a late July/early August move from Chicago suburb to suburban Massachusetts and the execution of the arrival and unpacking (was a 2-step unpacking, with half our items into storage) was unprofessional and unprepared. First of all, they did not have the correct size truck available which seemed to have delayed the delivery.

DO NOT USE ACM MOVERS. I had a horrible experience with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. We chose them because they quoted us a lower price than others, but when the crew arrived on moving day, they claimed we had more belongings than estimated and doubled our price after loading, from $3,000 to $6,000. At delivery, the driver stayed in his truck and slept while a single mover was left to unload everything alone, and our items were carelessly thrown into our storage unit with no real care.

I would not recommend ACM Movers. We paid for their full packing service, and the quality was extremely disappointing. Instead of properly packing our hanging clothes, they literally shoved them into boxes. Expensive suits, dress shirts, and other clothing arrived crushed and badly wrinkled. We now have to pay to have many items re-pressed and dry cleaned, completely defeating the purpose of paying professionals to pack.

After reading so many positive reviews, we were excited to use ACM for our first experience hiring professional movers. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. Our move was scheduled within a 3:00–5:00 p.m. arrival window, but the crew didn't arrive until around 8:00 p.m. The two movers were clearly exhausted after completing two other jobs earlier that day—they arrived out of breath and completely drained.

Quoted $835 for a 2-bedroom to 2-bedroom local move (5 hours, 2 movers, 1 truck). When the crew arrived, the price immediately jumped to $905 before anything was touched. Final bill came to $1,268 plus a $50 deposit — $1,318 total for what was supposed to be an $835 job. To help speed things up, I rented a U-Haul at my own expense and moved a portion of my belongings myself. The crew was mainly handling large furniture.

I hired ACM movers because of their wonderful reviews and I wish more than anything that I could also give them 5 stars. I will say the men worked very hard and it was a very humid and long day. However, there are several issues that occurred which management has not resolved and I am very disappointed in that. I paid them and tipped them at the end of the job, so I did my part. I just wish that management would do their part.

My daughter hired this company for an apartment move in Chicago, she got an online estimate telling them both places were on the second floor and describing all of the furniture to be moved and that everything was going to be boxed that was possible and they quoted her 556.00 and so she put a 100.00 deposit down with a credit card.

Workers have a Language Barrier and do not understand what I am requesting. At the Pick Up location, workers told me I had enough time to run to the convenience store .1 mile from the site, to use the bathroom and get cash out (for their tip!!). They finished up and left large sheets of cardboard in the storage unit rather than emptying it fully as requested! Then they left me there and headed for the dDrop Off Location after telling me I had time to come back and all follow each other to Drop Off.!! So rude!!!
