I would give this place a .00001 star if I could. A mixture of lying to the customer... Delays far beyond shipping window, missing boxes, not telling the customer that the "broken truck" isn't a regional truck and lying to us that it was broken and all of our stuff is unloaded without notice at a "warehouse". Thanks for destroying my home theater system, B&W speakers toast, most boxes damaged. Will NEVER recommend you to ANYONE!

Allegheny Valley Transfer Co. was my receiver in Pittsburgh. I was given a particular date for delivery of my stuff, but upon enquiring my stuff had reached 5 days earlier and I requested them to deliver my stuff early as I was without my furniture. They said unfortunately they won't be able to deliver early than the scheduled date which is fair enough.

We had to get two trucks to deliver our move. The first truck knew it was over it’s limit from its first pick up and that driver was trying to dispatch another truck but no one was able to accommodate him so he case to pick up half of our move. Then we had a “overflow “ truck that we are STILL waiting on ... we had a driver contact us that he is picking up our second part of the shipment and for it to be delivered by April 3rd. When I called the driver.. no answer.. called our local allied contact..

We are very sorry that this situation occurred and always try to avoid placing customers belongings on two separate trucks. However, with any moving company, long haul shipments (those going over 500 miles) are dispatched from the corporate office.

Beware....this company. Numerous problems between owner and driver F. Miscommunication and misrepresentation to us, the customer. The driver F walked off our job --my husband and I worked over 6 hours to help crew finish the job before the house closing and walk through the following morning. Owner lied to us on numerous occasions about price; fitting a tractor trailer in our driveway; poor communication with her workers; placed our stuff in a storage unit and never advised it was not covered.

short story: They ditched me and still want me to pay them. The mover tried to contact me and could not, and they bailed after 15 mins. However, they still want me to pay more than half ($175) of 4 hour work ($332). Full story: The mover contacted me and asked me when they should come to my unit at 10:30am. My initial appointment was 11am and as it was pushed to later with my preference + because they had another job beforehand, however, they finished the first job earlier and they contacted me.

The story this man is telling is based in truth, but there is more to the story.

I would give zero stars if I could. This company is absolutely terrible. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A SMALL MOVE, DO NOT BOOK HERE! I had a small move (approx. a studio apartment’s worth) from PA to OH and booked my move over a month ahead of time. I was told that since I had a small move, my stuff would have to go on a truck with a larger shipment - understandable.

We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the experience you had with our company. When it is a small shipment there is a loading spread that we are required to give, which is typically three days. Allied chooses the day and sometimes we don't know until closer to the moving day.

Would not recommend. We signed a contract for a 2.5 week shipping window with a guaranteed date for delivery. As a result we've been living bare bones for 2 weeks so we could ensure our stuff would be delivered by the time we arrived. Prior to move out, Relocation Manager informed me delivery would be on time. When that delivery date came and went with no communication, I reached out for an update to learn that my stuff was still in the original warehouse, the driver it was assigned to was out of state and would…

They'll break your stuff and then won't take responsibility for it. The sad part is, all the movers were very good except for one individual, who wasn't there for the unload (wonder why?). This person filled an entire box with extremely fragile and very heavy items, with no padding between them. These items were most likely trashed before the box even left the room. This would have been a 5-star review, but Allied went into weasel mode as soon as there was a problem.

What satisfied customers point to

The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

I cannot speak highly enough about the incredible team that helped me with my recent cross-country move! From start to finish, this moving company exceeded my expectations in every way. The level of professionalism, care, and efficiency they brought to the table was outstanding. Philip Ritt was an absolute pleasure to work with from the very beginning. He took the time to come to my home, carefully assess all of my belongings, and walked me through the entire moving process from start to finish.

Hired Allegheny Valley Transfer through Allied for a move from Pittsburgh to Chicago. They were excellent- moved everything with care, and were sure to put everything back together that they had disassembled for the move. Good value, and they delivered earlier than expected (delivered in 4 days; initial contract had a 2-week delivery window that had us nervous!!) Dale, Tyler, and Chris were the Pittsburgh-based crew and I would absolutely hire them again.

The person receiving the initial and final call was extremely kind and courteous. Lucas came over to look over the stuff to be moved. There was no pressure of any sort. As promised, he promptly sent us a detailed estimate. The final bill was fairly close to it. Lucas arranged the pick up date and time which suited our urgent move. Tracy, John and Drew reached before time. They introduced themselves and were respectful and wasted no time to get down to the job.

We used Allegheny Valley Transfer Co. for a move several years ago. They were easy to work with, quick, and professional. Our move required picking up items from two stops and unloading at one and they handled the timing and logistics smoothly including dealing with a gated entrance. I'm genuinely impressed how easily they managed to get some of our larger furniture pieces into our small and weirdly shaped house. Everything arrived safely and with no damage.
