Anchor Moving & Storage

I wanted to have a good experience with Anchor. They did a great job selling me on their services. They seemed knowledgeable and caring. Until the move itself. While the movers were very nice, they were also careless. They dropped several boxes off the dollies right in front of me (some of which were clearly marked fragile). The furniture was not wrapped up well as most of my pieces now have big chunks of wood taken out of them. Their truck had a leak which lead to wet couches and boxes of books.

Anchored in Chaos: The Moving Nightmare On moving day, the sun was bright, But soon began our endless plight. The movers missed appointments past, And chaos started to amass. The Anchor weighed us down with dread, As boxes broke, and we misled. Fragile items met their doom, Shattered dreams in every room. Their inventory was a mess, Our things were lost, we must confess. The Anchor of our hopes was gone, Hidden fees began to dawn. Surprise charges, poorly explained, Left us feeling deeply pained.

Just awful. I think it all fell apart when the leader of the group left to attend to another job. I was told to leave my clothes in the drawers but the clothes were never removed and packed. When the dressers were moved all of the clothes and other items in drawers fell to the back of the furniture or was completely lost and never recovered. My great grandmothers china was smashed-lost 5 pieces and glued 2 others-they were not in paper at all. Nespresso machine was damaged and had to be discarded.

The secretary was nice and helpful, but the workers were unprofessional. They sent 3 workers and had to send another truck because I was moving from a 3-bedroom house to another. They damaged walls and broke the banister going upstairs and tried to hide it. The one guy even said that this is too much stuff and that he almost called in sick. Why would you tell a customer that? They set nothing up except the dining room table because they said it was not their job.

wish I could provide real insight into the services provided by Anchor but their silence in not responding to my repeated requests for an estimate through their own online system kept me from pursuing them any further. I am looking at a long distance move from NJ to south FL. In late Feburary, 2018 I sent it and 4 other moving companies online requests for quotes for the move. The other 4 got back to me within only a day or two. Anchor never responded.

Truly sorry to say...not a good experience. They missed our scheduled appointment (it did snow that day, but the roads were fine at the time the appointment was scheduled). Worse, they did not call in advance to cancel or call afterword to apologize and reschedule. When I called the following day to express my displeasure I was told the boss had "just left". I requested the office contact him and have him call me immediately. I received the call aprrox.

Anchor moving smashed our 42 inch TV, didn't tell us and we found out when we plugged it in. They didn't mention there was " additional" money for additional insurance so we are getting a measly 50 dollars for our TV which they destroyed. They said we would have to pay out money all the time if they paid everyone's claims so apparently destroying people's personal belongings is a routine thing for anchor moving. I have nothing nice to say about this company and we will never refer them to anyone.

Anchor Moving and Storage has a lot of great reviews and my experience with the movers was that same. Great group of hard working guys who did a great job with the move. Unfortunately a few pieces of furniture were damaged during the move (it happens) and the movers told me to contact the office to submit a claim. I submitted my claim to Sandy Clemmens in the Anchor office over two months ago and have followed up with calls and emails. NO RESPONSE. I guess this company's motto is "if we break it, too bad"
