Bayou Movers

This company engages in practices that I found to be unprofessional and dishonest. I strongly urge potential customers to review all negative reviews to get potential risks before trusting your belongings to this business. I experienced several pieces of broken furniture and felt that the services paid for were not fully provided. Items were wrapped only in plastic film rather than protective moving blankets.

An absolute nightmare. They took 8 hours to move me out of a small apartment. They broke both of my bed frames, ripped my comforter, broke my bookcase so badly it can’t be used, ripped my Tory Burch purse, kept talking about how they wanted to smoke weed, spilled my baking sprinkles all over the ground. The driver specifically told me he’ll reach out to his office about the broken bookcase and send in a picture and he apparently never did. I’m beyond appalled by these movers. They did an absolutely disgusting job.

Edited to add: WARNING THEY ARE NOT INSURED! The moving team knocked down a scent machine in the elevator and left oil all over the floor. They didn’t let anyone know, and one of the other residents in my building slipped and fell. Her ankle is broken and she needs surgery and they’re refusing to pay and said that their insurance has lapsed. It’s very clear on the camera footage that that’s exactly what happened and they aren’t taking accountability. I feel so terrible.

I wish I could leave two separate reviews—one for the hardworking movers themselves and another for the company that put them in an impossible situation. Our original moving company never showed up, so we were forced to find a same-day replacement. Bayou Movers told us they could have a crew at our home between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Later, they called and said it would be closer to 4:00 PM because they were running behind on another job. Unfortunately, the crew didn’t actually arrive until after 7:00 PM.

I’m very disappointed in how the two individuals took advantage of a single woman moving alone. I was over charged, which I am disgusted about. I was told by the person that booked this Bayou Movers are experienced and this move should have been 3-hours, but no more than 5-hours max. This move took 7-hours plus intentionally. The two guys often moved every piece together for the majority of the time. Even small items that could be carried or with use of a dolly by one person.

This review is in no way shape or form against the actual movers/employees of Bayou Movers. My issues are exclusively with Olu, and how he manages his company. We scheduled Bayou Movers well in advance and were assured that they would be there at 8-10am latest. We were given one call saying that they would be there at 10:30 due to their previous job running a bit later, but ultimately, they didn't show up until 1pm. We paid for 3 men to move us, but they only showed up with 2.

I just hired Bayou Movers again for my one bedroom move and my experience was NIGHT AND DAY. I no longer recommend this company. I just had the worst, most expensive, most tiring, longest, move of my life with them. They sent two people. One of which was basically worthless. Slow, as a turtle and dropped and broke my antique lamp that was one of a pair and CAN NOT be replaced. Which even if it could the $35 they gave me would not replace it. This move took over 8 hours and cost over $1,100.

Terrible, rude service, and unprofessional. Whoever Olu is can’t read. They only treat people they can get money from with fake courtesy and respect. Complete time wasters. This review is based on company ethics. Not their moving services. A company should be well rounded with its representation. This isn’t related to sales or marketing as they mention. That’s a cheap way for them to negate responsibility for their poor lack of respect towards others. God bless everyone else in this company.
