Coastal Carrier Moving & Storage Company

I've hesitated to write this review. However, it was these reviews that weighed heavily in my decision to use this company. I wish I had given more weight to their Yelp reviews, which aren't as numerous but more aligned with my experience. I sent a review directly to them over 3 weeks ago. As of this posting, they haven't acknowledged it. No apology. No offer to fix the damage they caused to my new home. No assistance in filing claims with the full-coverage insurance I purchased.

I have no respect for a company that judges their customers and never returns emails or phone calls. They gave us an estimate and then just blew us off. Tried to email Josh multiple times, with no response back. So when they emailed me to check on things, I blew him off, too. I finally called him back with a request to put us on the schedule. The gentleman told me that he could help us, and would call me back. Guess what...he never returned my phone call.

Coastal Carriers Moving & Storage of Wilmington was the best moving company I'd ever used--the first time. I had moved from California to Wilmington in August 2016. Not one item was damaged. Great communication. So, I hired them again in March 2020 to move us back to California. This time, however, the move was a nightmare--and two months later, we still have not received all of our stuff. We did not feel the need to purchase extra insurance because the first move with Coastal Carrier had gone so smoothly.

I gave the mover a verbal review the day they moved me in to my new home on October 25th! That was before I unpacked and encountered the broken and trashed items that were so valuable to me. I am revising my review down to a zero if possible. I think it is very underhanded for the mover to ask for a review before the final events of the move are completed. And I find it very hard to believe that so many people really gave this company 5 stars.

I can’t comment on their business practices or quality of service, but I can comment on their Driver’s lack of awareness and negligence. On Thursday; 11/20/2025 at approximately 8:53am I was traveling south on SC 707 while in stand still traffic Whoever is driving one of their tractor trailers (pulling trailer #6 SC AD-49851) performed an abrupt and illegal lane change, which caused me to slam on the brakes and swerve into the median which obviously caused the vehicles behind me to have to Brake card and swerve as…

Not impressed. I have relocated 7 times in the past 30 years and this was my worst experience yet. I don’t care to elaborate on the various issues i encountered in the course of a day. I just felt the need to leave this review because a 5-star Google review seemed to be the most important thing to them, to the point of pressuring me to log into my Google account so that they could use my cellphone (which I was totally not comfortable with) to write the review themselves.

Our experience was truly mixed. While the moving team of Mike and Tyler was wonderful, kind and remarkably patient and innovative, the team at headquarters repeatedly dropped the ball. My 89 year old mother moved from Wilmington to a retirement village in Pennsylvania. Despite my having shared the destination contact information, the scheduling crew didn't followup which lead to a series of disasters. The truck was nearly too large to fit into the Wilmington neighborhood.

I used Coastal Carrier for my move on July 24, and it was a very disappointing experience. During the move, they broke my queen-size bed frame, damaged my nightstand, scratched my computer desk and entertainment stand, and even left me missing a couch pillow. They also caused damage to the doorframe in my new home. I reached out to them within 24 hours and was told to submit a claim, which I did immediately with pictures.
