Coastal Moving & Storage

Absolutely one of the worst business practices I have ever experienced. Coastal moving services is not a moving company. They’re a middle man and it seems their only job is to answer the phone, give you a pretend estimate promising a pretend timeline and then uses a bunch of random owner/operator trucks to shift your items to and from warehouses. None of this is what they’ll tell you. The pickup was delayed twice and poorly communicated or not at all.

Most of the movers who showed up were very professional and seemed like good people. One guy who said his name was “Duck” was caught several times eating our food. My father in law offered him a piece of candy in the morning and he ate the whole bag, stole cookies, ate another bag of chocolate all without asking. I finally said something about a large jimmy johns cookie my husband had put on the counter for when he got home from work that just went missing.

When I first contacted Coastal Moving Services after failed support from PODS, they were wonderful, quoting me a reasonable price and moving me quickly. However, this positive experience was short-lived. The moving company ended up quoting me double the initial price. When my belongings arrived, they were crammed into a storage unit in a completely unprofessional manner. Boxes were crushed, furniture broken, and everything else treated with disrespect.

My experience with the movers and delivery was fine, however I had a terrible experience with the claims department. The movers helped me fill out a claim for some damaged goods, which was great. I sent in my claim around May of 2016 and have not received a response. I've spoken and exchanged emails with the gentleman that handles claims many times. Some of my emails did not receive a response.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! PLEASE!!! I wish I would've read the reviews before putting down my down payment. They moved me from Texas to Florida and quoted me one price on the phone, then come to find out they use Rapid Express which then adds on MORE fees and fuel charges which was not disclosed to me until they already had my things and wanted another $2914 on delivery in order to offload my items!!! They also don't disclose that they have 7-12 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER your delivery date to get your things to you!!!

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!! If I could give this company 0 stars I would. My girlfriend’s father is over 70 years old. For an $800 non refundable deposit, no work was done because “clothes in bags are unacceptable, everything must be in boxes. Because the clothes are not in boxes the space is deemed a hazard to move around and therefore the mover is not obligated to” do the job he paid a $800 deposit for. We are very frustrated, so of course that frustration will come across on the phone.

Do NOT work with this moving BROKER, they are a scandal!!!! First off, the items that I included in my estimate I gave specific measurements on so the price should not have gone up. I was moving from FL to CA (crazy, but true). The second person from Coastal was so rude, very inconsiderate, and there was extreme pressure when in fact my square footage did NOT double but the price did on adding a few items.

One of the worst moving experiences I’ve ever had. No one explained the contract properly upfront — the price I was quoted changed when I arrived, and by then it was too late to back out. On top of that, no one explained how the storage part of the move works, and now I’m left waiting for my stuff with no clear delivery date. I’ve had to call repeatedly just to get updates. Customer service has been rude and unhelpful every time — the only decent part of this experience was the drivers.
