In their own words
Damaged my newly renovated basement, overcharged me by an hour, and then ghosted me when I tried to get it resolved. Good value if you don't value money at all.
Unfortunately, we had an extremely disappointing experience with Coffey Bros Moving for our interstate move from IL to KY and there is an entire Reddit thread of people who had the same unfortunate experience. Our final cost was approximately $3,300 higher than the estimate we had confirmed the night before our move, despite the packing taking approximately the amount of time originally estimated.
SCAMMERS, STAY AWAY!! I was initially quoted $1,400 and ended up paying >$2,200 to move a 1 bedroom within a distance of less than a mile. Not only were there a lot of extras (packing TV, mattress, etc.) the movers also got lost and couldn't find the loading dock for more than an hour (despite me giving them instructions beforehand). The move started around 6:15pm and ended around 10:20pm, whereas I was charged for 5 hours. The movers told me I would be refunded an hour if my move ended before 11pm.
I cannot recommend this company. They inundate customers with extensive paperwork designed to facilitate post-service charges. It was clear they were aware of their practices. The movers were slow and caused significant damage to our doors and desks, necessitating contact with the claims department. Ernest, the representative I spoke with, was unwilling to negotiate the bill, and we were not informed that we would incur a $75 charge for merely two screws.
Absolute scam. The move was performed by Edgar and his crew. They quoted me $680 charged me $1450 FOR A 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT THATS A 15 MINUTE DRIVE. I have had several similar moves that never exceeded $700 all in Chicago for the same size move. The most egregious issue is that the crew failed to complete the move. Several large and essential items: including a heavy bed frame, a heavy queen mattress, a 5ft mirror, and multiple boxes, were left abandoned in a public elevator area.
UPDATE: The company reached out same day I posted the review below and asked that I contact them directly. I call the same day and Ernest says someone will contact me...Still No Contact. My review still stands. Choose a different mover. Intial converstaion went well. Detailed list of items to move, paperwork signed, and reasonable estimate. Great until the actual move.
WORST movers and EVEN WORST packers...I was given an estimate of 8k and was clearly told that adding packing service for Kitchen will be not more than 1k and I get a final bill of 16k .. I saw them only stuffing paper into the boxes and asked if this additional boxes included and they said yes.m.and by adding all the unneeded extra extra boxes, they got my bill up till 16k I should be getting a refund for my loss. These people just cheated us very badly.
Scammers over here at Coffey Bros! Very disappointing They will add additional charges without reason OR consulting you on your moving day, and surprise you with a completely new balance (mine was DOUBLE) upon arriving at your final destination, expecting final payment before they unload your things. Completely scamming, dishonest, money-hungry business tactics. Do not book with them, they unfortunately have NO INTEGRITY! I feel bad for the movers stuck working at this place, they were hard workers and very kind

In their own words
They consistently conducted themselves in a professional and considerate manner, which made communication easy and reassuring. I appreciated the fact that they did not rush through any part of the process or overlook the smaller details that can often make a significant difference. Instead, they approached the work carefully and methodically, making sure everything was handled as it should be.

Great guys!! Did an excellent job with the move and helped us get it done quick. Couldn’t recommend them enough! Michael H and Juan were very professional and took care of the packing and unloading. 10/10!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We’re glad the move was handled quickly and professionally, and that the packing and unloading went smoothly. We truly appreciate your recommendation and support.
Today I had the pleasure of trusting Franklin, David and Jorge with a precious family china cabinet. They were professional, timely and very careful with our furniture. They arrived, wrapped it securely and took the long journey over an hour away to deliver it. I would highly recommend Coffey Bros moving and especially Franklin, David and Jorge.
