College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Columbia

College Hunks provided a completely different and disappointing experience compared to my previous experiences in Florida. We had scheduled them for 1:30 PM, but despite their 2-hour window, there was no communication until after the appointment arrived, and they didn’t show up until almost 4 PM. Our appointment was supposed to be with two guys, as per the quoted rate. However, when they arrived, there was a third guy, and they wanted me to sign off that he could stay.

I had a very disappointing experience with this moving company, and would not recommend them. This is the first, and last time, I will use them. First, they obviously sent the wrong size moving truck (too short) to my origination home because they could not get all my possessions on it. Another truck had to stop by later in the day to supposedly pick up the remaining items, but still left items at my old residence.

Do not hire this company. I only moved 4 miles and it was the worst experience. The people they sent managed to “lose” a lot of my stuff. I was nice enough to allow them to put most of the boxes in the garage instead of making them carry everything upstairs. When I was going through the boxes, from the garage, I realized all my designer boots and multiple pairs of shoes were missing. I called them and told them I was calling back with additional items they somehow “lost”.

I am a disabled service connected veteran. I needed to move as my landlord was selling the house. They came out on scheduled appointment and informed me that they could not do the move but could do it Wednesday at noon. The Manager said he would move me even if he had to do it himself. Well on Wednesday they said they were canceling my move. I have to find another mover after scheduling this one a week ago. They are Veteran UNfriendly and just the worst bunch of people I have meet.

I don’t have anything good to say about College Hunks. First, they charged me much more than I was quoted. More importantly, they balanced my desk on its corner damaging my hardwood floors and my desk. They took some pictures and assured me they’d take care of it. That was 2 months ago and I haven’t heard a word.

Called in to schedule a pickup to have a sofa sectional removed. Was explained over the phone that the price would range based on the amount of the truck being used. The measurements used was is the load smaller or larger than 4 refrigerators when stacked. Explained that the pieces when stacked together would be smaller than 4 refrigerators and was told it would be $99 plus tax. I disconnected all the pieces and even moved them out of the house my self to make it easier on the movers.

I would not recommend this company to anyone who values your items. From the first day of people showing up late, smoking substances around my family that you shouldn't and having to explain to my youngest children what that is, lost bolts and screws to beds, dressers, and appliances, damage to my new home and appliances. This was in my 20 years in the military moving around the world the worst company I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Call center sent out wrong size truck. The call center told me cost wouldn’t start until after I signed agreement but the person that day (Bre) said it started the minute they pulled in my driveway. Then spent the next thirty minutes trying to see if they were going to have to reschedule but thought they could fit it all. I then had to take time off for them to come a second time which costed a good extra chunk that probably could have been avoided. Bre had no urgency to her work.
