College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Danbury

This was a terrible moving experience from start to finish … so what began as an exciting moving day turned into an exhausting process which ended with damages to both one of my pieces of furniture and my brand new apartment. The movers arrived about 10 minutes past their arrival window after I had specifically told them I had a hard timeframe on the delivery end. It was a different crew than originally intended & they were all dragging, moving slowly, unprofessional & disorganized.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience with them. They rushed us through our move. They came understaffed, And they broke some of our more expensive furniture to include a new peloton treadmill that was stuffed between the back door of the truck and our furniture, which led to it falling off the back of the truck when it arrived to my new house, and Restoration Hardware bed set that was intended for my newborn daughter to use.

Overall an awful experience. First, the good…. 2 of the 3 guys were absolutely wonderful. They were both kind and professional. It was also less inexpensive than most other companies. But as they say, you get what you pay for. The bad Movers: as mentioned, 2 of the 3 guys were great. However, I witnessed the 3rd throwing my possessions into the truck, causing multiple dumbbells and kettlebells of mine to chip.

Worst experience ever!! Had a manager come and look at what I needed done which was to remove an old counter depth side by side fridge. The guy who came gave me an offer and a reasonable quote. They sent two guys here who took 2 hours to take a door off the fridge. Had broken tools and no know how. I had to help them and had to give them my own tools! They damaged my tile scratch my wood floors and charged 3x for the for their incompetence.if it was just my wife here they’d never would have been able to do it.

The movers working for College Hunks were very hard working. Unfortunately, components of our move were left undone including hardware for a table that was not left with us, which we are still waiting for. Moving blankets were left, items that needed to be unwrapped were left in the plastic, garbage (old plastic and tape) was left in piles. Also, one of the movers spoke in an inappropriate tone to me, and one of the other movers noticed and apologized for him.

Initially, their customer service was excellent and professional. However, our movers were careless with our property and their customer service has been less than professional since. They damaged multiple items and damaged our newly fixed walls. I reached out to file a claim and got a response right away that it would be investigated and I would hear back between 5-7 days. It has now been 16 days with no follow up. These are only a few pictures. I would highly advise you avoid this company.

Had service done one June 12th the guys damaged my wood floors, contacted them same day to file a claim and was told I would hear back within 3-5 business days and here it is July 9th and I have not received any update. I’ve called several times to the customer service was told it’s still “pending” then they gave me the number to the local office I’ve left messages and no one has called me back! Not following through on their College Hunks motto.

Carmine and Max did a great job moving my items. They had to break the news to me that my donation pick up would be over hundred dollars more than the website said. They were very kind about this. I have put a call in to speak to a manager. The website is tricky and the movers shouldn’t have to explain that to customers.
