College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Jacksonville

The worst movers ever. The administration/management office is inept and couldn’t even manage the simplest of instructions. Agreements made with management were routinely ignored and resulted in numerous errors. Miscellaneous charges were added on that were not previously disclosed. Packers ignored instructions and padded the bill by actually wrapping and moving items in another room that they were told were going out for recycling.

I paid 130$ more an hour then the original company I was going to with to avoid having sub soundtracked workers only to have workers less capable then sub contractors to show up. I got a small male and even smaller female that seemed to never have moved before. 10×15 storage unit using a 20ft truck with two people wasn't an issue the first time but I didn't want to burden my family this time around. I hired workers and it was an unprofessional mess from start to finish.

I had all of the items being picked up in neat, compact piles. The estimate given was $275. The guys threw the materials in the truck in a way that resulted in the items taking up much more space than necessary and the final bill coming out to $416, instead of $275!! That's textbook definition for "bait and switch". The guys got my commitment with a lower price and then changed it up halfway through, when I couldn't tell them to leave everything because most of it was already on the truck.

Extremely disappointing dealing with the Jacksonville office. Scheduled help loading a moving truck, 2 guys for 1 hour, just for the heavy stuff. Had this scheduled for over a week. Had a confirmation call, and a show up window. Surprise, No call-no show. When I called the office (I had to call them), I was given the run around, they put me on hold, and then wouldn’t answer my calls.

First, I want to say, I really wanted to write a good review for this company. Our first interaction with them was pleasant and professional. The estimate was on the high side, but because of the good reviews, we opted to use them for our move. I could never recommend using this company for a move. We had a big move, with College Hunks boxing and moving a 3,600 foot house. Things started falling apart immediately. The plan was to have them box up on Friday and move on Saturday.

Absolutely HORRIBLE. Beware. We moved only 9 items with them in late October to the Jacksonville FL area. Short local move. 5 of the 9 were damaged. All 3 of our appliances. How? The worker(s) smelled like marijuana. My husband and I both smelled it but we had to be out that day. We requested a refund and to speak with management and have our items fixed or replaced.

I scheduled 2 moves with College Hunks. They were unable to complete the 1st move and I cancelled the 2nd move. Let me explain. The 1st move was supposed to only be the moving of my fridge and the 2nd move was supposed to be a whole house move. When discussing the fridge move with them THEY asked me if the doors would need to come off and I let them know that would definitely be a possibility. They said no problem. They acted like they do this all the time.

Guys were friendly and arrived on time. The move took way longer than expected, but was mostly due to having to utilize an elevator. What didn't help was that the movers were not supplied with power tools so disassembling and reassembling took longer than necessary. Once at the new location, they scratched some of the walls. It's very obvious. It's cosmetic damage, but wasn't mentioned. That's all unfortunate but can be expected.
