Suddath Moving & Storage

I paid Suddath $14k to relocate me from Mountain View, CA to Atlanta, GA in Oct 2022. This price included their packing service to box up my household goods in California. I also paid extra for Full Value Protection (FVP Coverage) to insure my items. The movers did a reasonable job with large items but there were a handful of damaged items upon delivery in Georgia, due to poor / insufficient packing.

The way Military families are treated is just sad. While I had no issues with the sub contractors my main issue has been with suddath and the claim process. Communication is awful. Response time is at a snail's pace. I feel the honesty from Suddath is just downright disgusting. Twice I was told my claims check was mailed and it was never received. I finally got a hold of someone who seemed to help. They said do the ACH process which I did. The ACH was said to have been processed.

Poor customer service. After the movers arrived, I got a call saying our quote was incorrect. Since it was a Saturday, they couldn't give me an accurate quote until Monday. So stressful on moving day! They said a rep would be available during our move if we had any concerns, but they were not. Every admin step was delayed, cumbersome, and required our follow up to move forward. We purchased insurance and had to call numerous times to get payment. You cannot have repairs done until you settle with them.

I have moved every year for the past fouryears. Suddath was recommended to me and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a mover. The team lead argued with me all day about everything. I asked and paid for packing and unpacking services. The team lead argued they weren't supposed to pack things. He said he wasn't told to move the TV even though the packing inventory had the TV in it with a photograph labeling the TV.

Update: emailed the emails listed below with no response. It appears the communication breakdown is top down. We were told today that they listed the job in April. We have spoke to them several times and asked if they put a bid out and never got a straight answer. It feels highly dishonest that after 5+ attempts to understand our move this was the first time it was mentioned. We still don’t have a driver and no estimated delivery date. Stay tuned….

Pretty miserable military move experience from start to finish. The movers they contracted at pick up caused 3000$ worth of damage to my house. It was a nightmare to deal with them lying and making things up. Then when I arrived at my new duty station about 1000$ worth of my items were broken. Out of that they paid 30$ and offered me 200$ for a 500$ brand new chair that was now broken. This is a chair my wife NEEDS to work from home. Now we have to wait months in hopes it gets reimbursed.

Awful company, DO NOT USE. I used them to move my house and car. While the house move went fine, the car was a disaster. They provided a pick up time for my car, so I made my flight out of town for that evening. The pick up time came and went, with no notice/call from Suddath. When I called, surprisingly they already knew no one was going to pick up my car. They had no solutions to the problem they created, and I guess their policy is to just ignore the problems.

A great deal of attention to detail before packing day, frequent communication, etc. Then the 3 members of the packing crew showed up. Polite, friendly, congenial. I thought everything was great, no problems to be had. When I got to my destination, I realized that Moe, Larry, and Curly had somehow snuck in and taken the place of the Suddath packers while I wasn't looking. I haven't had time to unpack everything yet, and I hope I don't find any more of the following: 1) my record player not boxed up.
