College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Milwaukee

CollegeHunk Movers get a one-star rating from me and my sister. My mom passed away, and we needed some movers to handle her heavier furniture. We moved her entire house by ourselves except for those heavier pieces. One of the movers was really nice, but their van broke down, which delayed us from getting the furniture into storage. Another mover, I think his name was Jordan, had a terrible attitude the entire time. They didn’t wrap our furniture at all—no protective blankets, nothing.

I'm torn. I used them twice. Once for junk removal they did a good job. I then hired them for labor to move items in the house. I sent them a very detailed list of things to move by room. They did not follow instructions. They placed heavy boxes on top of framed paintings when I had specifically asked for the paintings to be stood against a wall. This caused broken glass in multiple paintings. I asked them to move the only carpet in the attic to the garage--they moved to the closest bedroom on the second floor.

I purchased a washer from an employee of College Hunks for $250. He had picked up the washer from a moving client. He claimed the washer worked. I moved the washer into our laundry room and plugged it in. It did not work. It turned on and within 30 sec turned off. I tried troubleshooting for over an hour with no luck. Over the course of several weeks I attempted to resolve the situation. I asked for a refund and offered to lower the refund amount from $250 to make up for the lost time.

Would NEVER use again. I don’t know how this place has such great ratings. In the beginning of our moving process, we talked on the phone with someone to give them our inventory, tell them about the moving process, how far the movers have to walk, etc. Well- when the movers came to our apartment, they disclosed that they cannot take anything not in a box (which was NEVER told to me) so there were dozens of zipper bags of clothes, blankets, pillows, etc that couldn’t be moved.

TL/DR DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! TOTAL SCAM!!! I would give zero stars if this were possible. This company especially this location treated me with utter deception. First of all they quoted me at a price that was $800 less than what it ended up being. I was never asked for an actual inventory or to confirm the inventory so I have no way of knowing what the person that took my call put down. I told them explicitly how many boxes, the type of furniture etc.

we recently had this company move our things to a new house in the South Milwaukee Area. I was in the basement letting the guys know what needed to be taken. When I was informed there was not that much room left in the truck. I had previously taken a bunch of our things to our new house, so we really did not have that many things. I went out to the moving truck and this is what I saw, in the photo.

Destroyed my $2k OLED tv and only want to pay state minimum insurance of $0.60 a pound despite photographs, witnesses, and a text conversation with the manager, Justin, in which he agreed to an insured TV bag. Will hopefully be able to be reimbursed by my home insurance, but Justin was dismissive and unfortunately denying responsibility for the damage. We hired them for a recent move-out in Milwaukee. They were prompt, but very inefficient despite our move being very organized (for example: I’m the kind of person who uses different colors of tape to identify where boxes should go). Since it was such a slow process, I helped with moving out a number of boxes—whatever I could carry—despite being more than 8 months pregnant. My husband helped, as well. In fact, we were even able to move some of the less heavy furniture together, including both bed frames.
