College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Wilmington

writing a review so someone hopefully gets back to me. I had a move back in May where they were to load my furniture into a uhaul. I requested plastic wrap to be added at an extra cost so my furniture wouldn't get damaged. They came in without the plastic wrap and had to go back down to get it. I could tell they did not want to be there and couldn't be bothered. When they came back up they handed the plastic to me to wrap. I wrapped 2 computer monitors as it isn't my job and they wrapped nothing.

If I could give this company negative stars, I would. I'm a Marine veteran and pride myself on accountability and doing what I said I would do. FACTS: HUNKS Rep conducted survey of requested junk removal on a Weds, with appointment set for following Mon afternoon; crew called on day of pick-up to say they could not make it before 8pm due to extended job they were executing, but crew chief promised to show at 8am the next morning; no show the next morning...would not answer phone, office staff completely unhelpful.

I never write reviews but I felt the need to make people aware. I submitted a better business, bureau report, but this company did not answer. I prefer not to leave a negative review and would have like them to address the BBB complaint but I have been contacted by the BBB and this company will not respond . I had them move me from Wilmington to Raleigh . I signed a contract for 3 men and 1 truck, no additional insurance, I have moved 6x in my life and never had damage or problems.

They stole my property then disconnected the phone number. The GM and sales rep refuse to return my calls. I will file a formal complaint with the BBB and dispute the charge

Edit: Per evidence below. This company dodges responsibility and will not own their mistakes. Edit: Jeff's reply to my post indicated I needed to buy coverage for the movers (not me or my family) damaging my desk. Remember that when you hire them. You need to buy insurance for the damage College Hunks may cause. If you don't purchase the insurance to cover the movers mistakes, they'll compensate you $50 for a $300 item. If you use that same ratio they'll compensate you $833 if they destroy a $5,000 item, ect...

Here's a story. I called the second week of April 2025 to corporate office. They assigned me to this college hunks. That day was transferred to their. And was told that that Friday I could not get somebody over to my house to do an estimate. They told me that somebody would be out there the next day from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.. I sat on my front porch and nobody showed up. I called them the next week they told me it would be done this week. Nobody showed up.

WARNING! DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR MOVE!!!! I wish 0 stars were possible. Let's start at the beginning. The move was scheduled for an arrival of 1pm to 3pm to start the move. At approximately 12:45 I got a call from "Tiff" which said they were behind on another job due to an employee calling out for work and them being under staffed and the crew would get to me around 3pm maybe a few minutes later. She assured me I was getting her very best crew and it would be worth the wait.

Unfortunately, during the process in JULY 2024, there was some damage to the walls leading upstairs, which I fully understand can happen. However, it's now FEBRUARY 2025, and despite my numerous attempts to contact the company and get the damages repaired, my walls remain in the same condition. I finally received a visit in September 2024, but the repair work was left unfinished. Since then, I've been unable to get any further communication or follow-up from the staff.
