Horrible experience with this moving company! The movers were scheduled for 8am and did not arrive until almost 10am then had to leave to get the truck weighed as “Stan did not communicate to them it was needed” for the military move. We were moving three hours away and they didn’t get the truck loaded until 2pm and didn’t arrive to the new city until 6:30pm. They finally finished unloading all the furniture at almost 9pm with 3 movers!
Hello Gina, thank you for sharing your experience. The move was requested to be completed in one day which can cause it to run later, as our team had to drive three hours to the destination, however, we apologize for the it taking longer than expected.
Very, very disappointed! This company came highly recommended to me. The moving guys were very nice. But instead of taking the time to take the doors off my fridge they tried to move it with the one door still attached (not wanting to unhook the water) & it resulted in my stainless steel fridge being scratched all up. We have called D1 (even Harrison himself) numerous times with no response. We’re told that he would call back on 3 separate occasions, yet not a single word.
It’s an unfortunate review, some individuals with the company were great at their job. Unfortunately they had movers that didn’t wrap or pack items in a way; we didn’t have a single table survive because they didn’t unassembled them or properly pack them in the truck (heavy items on top). Mattresses were damaged because they were not wrapped. We wrote a claim but nearly six month later they are ignoring text, emails and voicemails. Buyer beware.
Erik, we apologize for the delay in a resolution for your claims. Those are not our standard protocols that were followed, and we will use the information you provided to develop further training to our teams, especially the disassembly and reassembly of valued items.
Could I give it zero starts? Before hiring D1 Moving, I thoroughly vetted them, & their reviews & references were wonderful. Unfortunately, their work was awful!!! They damaged much of my furniture. They dropped my headboard, flat on the floor. They carried 4 dining room chairs down from the attic, to the 2nd floor, to the 1st floor and out onto the truck without protecting them in any way. They were banging them together and refused to wrap them when I asked them to.
Thank you for leaving a review. We apologize for any distress that was caused during and after your move. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the amount of the tip that was provided to our team. We will be sending you correspondence via a letter.
D1 moved my family from Wyndham to West Broad Village on 7/30/20. I have given them 4 opportunities to respond to my calls and emails over the past week prior to posting this review but up to this point they have ignored me so I have no choice but to warn others NOT to hire this company. Aside from the fact that there were no protective coverings on the walls or floors as promised, I had no real issues. I actually expect some damaged items from a move. That's why I paid extra for full replacement coverage.
I moved out of a 3-bedroom condo in Henrico and used their services to pack up my household goods and load it all onto a U-Haul for me. D1 movers was recommended to me and I can safely say I would not pass on that recommendation to anyone else. The packing and loading started well (at least that I could tell) around 9am that morning and things were looking like they might be done by 3 or 4 pm…spoiler, they finished after 7pm.
I would give 0 stars if i could. I have moved over 20 times in my lifetime and have never had a worse moving experience, and to add salt to the wound, never have i been charged so much for subpar performance and goods. The list is so long between multiple pieces of damaged furniture, missing items, poorly packed truck and boxes. We had so much damaged furniture that they had to send out two different specialty companies to salvage what we could.
We have no record of "Wendy Williams" in our system. Wendy Williams is a talk show host; however, we did have a difficult client recently that we moved---nothing seemed to faze him. Even if we knocked it out of the park, he still would have pointed out something wrong in comparison to the grand…
Working with D1 was the WOST experience of my life. I cannot tell you how much this company has made my life a living hell. You will regret hiring them!!! Do not hire!!!!!! They have been extremely unprofessional. They lost items in storage and broke and damaged many other items. I bought the “full protection” but they refuse to make good on their promise. I moved in June - it is now December and they are still trying to get out of paying me for a couch they damaged! This is the only review I have ever written.
We did not break "tons of things" however, we did stain your couch. Mistakes happen & we tried to own up to our mistake. We offered actual cash value back for the item. Our exact email from November 23 states, "with the original cost minus depreciation over the course of 4 years would bring the pay…

In their own words
Highly recommend D1 Moving! They moved me from the DC area to Charlotte and their service was top notch. Fantastic communication, timely arrival and delivery, a friendly / hardworking team and most importantly everything arrived with no damage. I loved that I could have a dedicated truck and moving team. This really mitigates the risk or items getting lost and damaged like big moving companies. The two guys that moved my house were studs.
We had a fantastic experience with this moving company. The team of men (Kimari, John Carson, Austin Fenner, Trivari, and Zahkee) were punctual, friendly, and PHENOMENALLY hard workers. They were fast and efficient and working every minute. They were pleasant about repositioning things when my first ideas didn’t work. And we came in under estimate.
My wife and I were moving a lot of furniture from two different locations (one in DC and one in Great Falls) and bringing it to our new house. We got quotes from a couple of different movers and ultimately settled on D1. Jake was extremely attentive in the lead up to the move. Given that this wasn't a "point A to point B move", Jake worked with me on an estimate that was very fair and even dropped off moving boxes in advance of the move. The move itself went extremely smooth.
We've used D1 for every move for many years (home and business) and have always been pleased. Our most recent move, from a four-story townhome (w/no elevator) to a quirky older home with narrow doorways and a winding staircase, was something movers should dread. The D1 team was fantastic! They were pleasant, polite, and personable throughout this difficult move.
Thank you so much for the review and continued support, Beth! We are so honored to help you during your moves!
