If you want your precious belongings lost, broken, and soiled, this is the company for you! My experience was the absolute worst that I could imagine. Not only did they lose 29 boxes of things, they DOUBLED the quoted price!! When I called about the missing items, I was berated for taking too long to call them back. THEN, I was promised a call back within 5 days, but I never received that call. I called them again, and never received a call back.
We are never happy to see a bad review and we are sorry for your experience. Here is our response. We did your estimate based on a list your provided. With this list we estimated 3 crates. We then loaded and almost filled the truck. We had 7 pages of inventory.
In March 2018, I was given a quote for a move of my household goods from Virginia Beach to the Richmond area. I was given an estimate to have my items packaged, picked up, stored and then delivered to my new home. The original estimate was for $4282 subject to change only based on weight according the the estimator and I was told this included all expected expenses.
When a customer comes into storage with us there is a cost to move into storage, a cost to store one's items, and a cost to move out of storage. This was apparently not effectively communicated in this case, and we regret this error.
Do not use My Guys Moving & Storage!! I have moved multiple times and I have never been so disappointed and disgusted with the lack of customer service I received. I was charged around $1100 to move a one bedroom condo (no mattress or headboard to be moved or dining room table, only living room furniture, bedroom furniture and boxes were moved). I was charged a total of 8 hours including the one hour of travel time. How does a one-bedroom condo require 7 hours to move??

If you care about your furniture and the quality of service DO NOT use this company. I only hired them based on a previous experience when we moved from Leesburg to Richmond. However the Richmond based company was a total disaster. First, after I agreed to the price, they called three hours later and told me that it is going to be higher. Then I asked for the owner to come to the house and give me an estimate, so that I will avoid unpleasant surprises. The owner, Dave, said it was not necessary.
This move is what we call an intrastate move - within the state of Virginia but over 40 miles between origin and destination. We price these moves based on weight and miles. Prior to the move the customer gave us a list of what they were moving, and based on this list we calculated a weight of the…
I don’t know where to start. We were quoted a 7 hr job buy a representative with over 15 years experience and the the job took 10 hours. Our beds were not assembled correctly, including my daughter’s bed which could have caused injury if we had let her sleep in it. There was blood dripped on our bedroom furniture by one of the movers and was not cleaned up. (Pics below) No floor mats or wall protectors were used when furniture was being moved into our new home which resulted in damage to the wood floors.
Please fill out the claim form and we will handle it professionally. You had us do things you said you would handle so we cannot be responsible for an estimate that goes over when the customer gives incorrect information. Our reviews, current and past demonstrate that we are a great mover.
I have a very heavy piano I needed moved. It has been moved 5 times in the past, so I have seen it all- this time was terrible. They said they would arrive between 8am and 9am. They came at 9:45am. Normally not a big deal but I am moving and stressed for time with everything going on- I expected them. They were wonderful loading the item on the truck. But when we got to the location to unload it, they did not realize it would not fit through the front door.
I am sorry this happened. Sometimes we do not know the issues at the new house, had we known we would have refused the move, but we never know. We move a lot of pianos usually without issue. The only way to get it in the house was to turn it sideways.
HUGE waste of money. Two Guys and a Truck (now My Guys Moving) came recommended by co-workers, so I went with them instead of less expensive options. I would recommend them only if (1) you know absolutely no one in town who could help you move; (2) there are no other paid movers in town who are available to help you move; (3) you have no external time constraints relating to your move; and (4) you really don't mind paying a premium for below-average service.
We recently used My Guys Moving & Storage Richmond to complete a local move after past positive experiences (with very direct single-item moves). They were initially very responsive in providing a quote and scheduling. However, the move and the results of the move was an absolute disaster for our family that has left us with thousands of dollars in damaged items. The management ignored our concerns and inquiry about moving on a day with a 100% forecast of rain forcing us to proceed.
We did your move in a pouring rain. Some customers choose to reschedule but we often we do moves in rain with no issue. This was a very, very bad storm. We did not do the packing so we cannot be responsible for what we did not pack.

Jermaine and Omar recently moved my mother's upright piano and some other choice items from a home in Virginia to a storage unit in another state. They did an excellent job protecting the piano and other items. They were respectful, especially to my mother, and completed the task in a timely manner with great communication. Alan, with whom I was initially connected, was also super helpful in getting us a reasonable price and coordinating the move.

I called 7 different moving companies and after speaking with Kenny I knew this was the company I wanted to handle our move. After I booked the move with Kenny, I was handed off to Mary Ann who was on top of communication leading up to the big day. When the movers arrived they proceeded to lay down the matting to protect the floors, put padding around the doorways and the door, so no damage was done, and did a thorough walk-through with me asking questions about what was being moved.

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We couldn’t stop talking about how amazing they made the stressful experience of moving. They showed up on time and were very friendly and professional. They protected the stairwell walls and all the floors, even removing and then quilting the exterior doors and removing them before they started! They quilted and shrink wrapped every piece of furniture, and worked so well together as a team.
