Déménagement Maximum

Don't hire these movers. The owner, Francis Saumure, is a hothead. He threatened to fight with one of my new neighbors and was very aggressive when I asked him to stop. I had to call the police because he was holding my belongings hostage. They barely packed anything, even though I asked them to. They took their sweet time, even though I had very few items to move. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with such a person! Don't hire these movers. The owner, Francis Saumure, is a hothead.

Service provided on October 28, 2019. Their prices were competitive, especially since there was no minimum charge. The staff was friendly. However, they arrived more than 30 minutes late. A phone call from them to let us know they were running late would have been reassuring. They were quick and packed the furniture well, but they handled it roughly: they damaged at least one Ikea dresser (not covered by insurance, but that's how it is with all the movers we've contacted).

Extremely high price for the minimal and incomplete work. Items were placed precariously; for example, a chair was placed on its side on top of 2x4s, and a mattress was placed on top of that. Another mattress was placed on top of the siding. I left several messages after my move but received no response to my calls or emails. See photos.

Typically, I don't like to write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to, considering the poor service I received from Maximum Moving (we call them "Maximum Damage"). First, the truck was far too large for the load (I had specified a 16-footer), which tipped over during transport because it was improperly secured. Many of our furniture items were damaged or even broken. The two movers (who were rather careless) also caused significant damage to the walls and floors of the house I was renting.

I strongly advise against hiring Maximum Moving. They didn't use any blankets or rugs to protect the floors (contrary to what they mentioned in the quote), and they didn't use any furniture covers (contrary to what they mentioned in the quote), which resulted in several pieces of furniture being damaged during the move. They even made a hole in a wall with a door (by removing a doorstop to get a piece of furniture through), and the two movers claimed the hole was already there (which was false).

We booked them for September 1st for our big move. I spoke with Stéphane a week beforehand to make sure everything was in order. On the morning of the move, he was supposed to be there at 8:30 am. By 9:15 am, he hadn't arrived. My wife called, and to our astonishment, we were informed that they wouldn't be doing the job. Apparently, the employees had decided they weren't going to work that day. We weren't even notified! What a lack of professionalism and responsibility!

Wow, what a horror story! Beware! The movers didn't show up on moving day. After more than two and a half hours and several calls, I finally got through to someone. The person offered a string of excuses, saying they'd call me back before dinner... guess what? 6:30 a.m., no call. 7:00 a.m., I finally got through to them, only to get even more lame excuses. Like, the truck was broken and it was impossible to find a rental truck. Yet, we found a U-Haul truck to rent that same day.

A huge thank you to Maximum Plus Moving for moving my entire condo! They are very professional, polite, and hardworking, and the truck driver is really nice. They were patient and packed my furniture very well, just as planned. Nothing was broken. This is my third move with them, and I will definitely contact them again for my next move.
