Moving day today was a nightmare! I'd already done practically everything myself, leaving only the large furniture and a few bags/boxes to move. This was my first time using a professional moving company. I paid for 3 hours and then had to spend another 45 minutes on my own picking up what they left on the counter: a box, a bag, and the refrigerator drawers, even though it could have easily fit in the truck!
Arrived very late, $2000 for a 4 1/2 apartment, everything was packed up, and the move was supposed to be one block away. After unpacking the boxes and tidying the apartment, surprise, several items were missing. Several different people were coming and going, making it difficult to maintain control. The team leader smelled fishy. What a way to scam a 70-year-old woman! You moved my mother at the end of June, one block away. I waited with her until 12:30 PM when I had to leave for work. A toolbox was missing.
I hired this company for my move. They were supposed to arrive at 9:00 AM, but they didn't arrive until 1:30 PM. Up until then, there was no problem. However, during the move, they broke a brand new piece of furniture, but they told me that unfortunately, they couldn't pay for it because it's winter and the employees can slip! They claim to be insured for $25,000, but don't even try to claim for damages because they won't pay; their deductible is only $500!
