Dunmar Moving Systems | No1 Moving Company

We used Dunmar/Allied for our move from Richmond, Va to Colorado. Prior to the move our experience was great. Our questions were answered, the assessment for the move was professional, and the service we received was professional. We were assured that our items would arrive on time and damage free. Once we arrived in CO (and waited for over 3 weeks for our delivery), we started to unpack and found several items that were damaged including a vintage pinball machine.

Do NOT use this company! Everything about this move was unprofessional and careless. Truck broke down on day of move. Furniture was wrapped at my home but arrived unwrapped and damaged. Delivery did not arrive in contract timeframe. See photo of how my truck arrived for a long distance. Allied has not provided reimbursement acceptable to cover my losses. Driver stated it was the worst warehouse he has seen. I’m now trying to ship lost boxes that customers are finding in their move.

If something goes wrong, they will defer to their monster Corporate partner in Sirva to deflect accountability by referencing buried policies that aren’t visible in the contracts you will sign. Paid $18,000 to Dumnar to move my family from VA to TX in June 2022. They guaranteed delivery by 6/29/22 and they delivered my belongings in-full on 7/19/22. 20 days past their guarantee. I’ve held this review until now, in hopes they’d do what is right for their customer.

We have had headache after head ache with this moving company. I'll first start by saying the employees on the ground doing the heavy lifting were great, friendly, and hard working. Those behind the scenes don't have a clue what they are doing if they work at all. We've had them cancel multiple times / not shw up at all on us the days they were supposed to pick up our old house as well as now on the delivery to the new house.

I have mixed emotions with how things were handled. The move team seemed to pack up everything carefully and the delivery team seemed to unpack it carefully. Since I was between houses, I decided to store everything with Dunmar since they told me they had climate controlled storage and the price was only slightly higher than climate controlled storage at a self-storage facility. Several items were damaged when they were returned to me.

Destroyed a $12,000 Stickley solid mahogany dining room table in April 2019 in Short Pump, Va. Their insurer covered less than half of the damage after deductible and we have a worthless table. Moving crew ran out of the room and did not tell us about the damage. You can see their spit marks in pics where they tried to rub out the deep gouges and long 2 foot scratch. Pre-move we stressed the value of this handmade mahogany dining table. Bought this back in 1992 when we were married and it was in mint condition.

Go With Anybody BUT Dunmar- I do not know how Dunmar has such good ratings, as mine was the WORST experience ever. I recently completed a move with Dunmar that began in Louisa County VA in July 2024 and ended in May 2025 in Arizona, including leaving my belongings in storage for 6 months. My experience with Dunmar was not just my worst move experience (I've moved 9 times in my adult life), it was the worst experience I've had with any company, ever. I had to ride every person involved in my move like a pony.

Stay away! We made a long distance move from Virginia to New Hampshire last week. The crew loaded our things onto the truck on Wednesday and said they would be delivered the following Sunday. The driver showed up, but his local helpers did not. After almost 4 hours (during which my husband was helping unload some smaller items), it was obvious that no help was coming. So the three of us (me, my husband, and the driver) unloaded an entire 26’ truck by ourselves. We didn’t finish until almost 7:00 pm.
