We where in a pinch and needed a moving company ASAP. I was so happy that they had free time the day that I needed them (BUT THERE WAS A REASON). When they arrived at my door I was pretty shocked to see that they had sent a kid (17) and an older smaller gentlman maybe in his 50's. This is not the kind of movers I was expecting. Through out the day I had to listen to the kid complain about how hot he was and how heavy everything was.
Poor customer service, damaged items and stolen items. We moved from Grass Valley to Missoula, Montana. The estimator for Ernie's came to our house twice, so we we confident that he had a good idea of what we needed to transport. The day before the move I thought I'd receive a call letting me know arrival time for the crew the next morning, but I finally called at 4:45pm and was told they would arrive between 8 - 8:30am.
We have used Ernie's for three moves in the past few years. I have never felt overcharged until now. The estimate they gave me was 130.00 (1 hour basically) under what they billed me. Beware of the " Double Drive Time" policy - I was told that all movers do this. The explanation was "Double Talk" for you are paying double for your actual move. That is the time the truck is on the road from where your stuff is loaded to where it is unloaded.
They were suppose to show up at 10am...... They didn't show up till 11:20am....NEVER will I ever use them!! Didn't even call to say they were going to be late! Bad business!!

First off, the good: The crew that moved our goods in was fantastic, took great care not to damage our stuff or the house. The bad: The office and admin leaves a lot to be desired. After we arrived in California, we were informed that our goods were in storage and they would not be able to deliver 1.5 weeks until after the scheduled date; leaving me and my 6 mo pregnant sleeping on air mattresses.
WE GOT ROBBED!! Cash payments exchanged between employees loading and unloading? That's shady. At the move destination we were informed by the driver that the truck had been robbed overnight and the driver showed us the broken lock and pictures of the back of his truck when he opened it and made the discovery that morning. The move for us was already very stressful due to other factors so we just proceeded in unloading the remaining items.
Ernie's Van & Storage did a terrible job with our move. They did not box all of our household goods which I paid them to, they mixed our items with another move, damaged most of our furniture and lost several of our boxes during the move. They also charged us above the estimate they provided. Also, despite doing such a poor job with the move, their owner and management team will not return my calls and are trying to avoid accountability.
Was happy with the two movers that were sent to help me. However, I wasn't aware that I was going to be charged for the two 20 min. breaks they took, and for the time it took them to go back and get their cell phone which they left at the first property (was charged double for this time too, since it was during the "drive time"). Also found out afterwards that they charge twice the hourly rate for drive time! They also arrived 30 mins early, I asked for a 9am start and they got there at 8:30.

Gabe, Brian & Gene were the best moving crew I have ever had - and this was my 33rd move so I know what great is! Considerate, professional, fast and efficient and all of my things came to me in perfect condition. I just couldn’t have asked for more and this trio has their system down. Matt and Mike with the logistics, very fair pricing and overall management were so communicative, professional and again, a delight to work with.
This review is for the crew (Justin, Anthony, and Cesar) from Ernie's Van and Storage that picked up our household furnishings and also for the crew (Anthony and Jay) that later delivered those furnishings to another location several hours away. Both crews were EXCELLENT—on time, professional in wrapping and handling our things, very efficient and personable, and respectful of our possessions and property. We can recommend them highly and would hire them again without hesitation.
I was extremely impressed with Ernie’s Van and Storage. My husband and I needed help moving all our belongings into storage while we waited for our new house to be finished and then needed help 2 months later moving into our new home. Ernies helped with both moves. Their admin team was incredibly easy to work with (responsive, clear, easy to schedule) and the movers for both moves were thoughtful, extremely helpful, and a joy to work with.
5 stars for excellent service! I have used Ernie's Van and Storage at least twice when selling my home in Nevada county. They have always offered the most competitive rates and will work with your budget! MATT SOWELL and his team are awesome and professional! I used them to do all my packing and then the next day they loaded everything into the trucks. 4 men and getting the job done! . They used plenty of wrapping paper and no glass or fragile item took a hit (except for tv base).
