Excel Moving & Storage Inc

[Update: It's been over a week, and no return calls from the GM despite leaving messages. Obviously, the GM cares more about appearing to be reasonable online instead of responding to customers in person. Added to respond to owner: We were never not going to tip the delivery people, and we're shocked that the general manager of the company is suggesting that if we're unhappy the items were broken, we should not tip the people who delivered them even though they were not the ones at fault.

I was originally going to stay in The Greensboro area after we sold our home. We paid Excel Moving to pack, store and deliver our belongings. They gave us a fair price $12,000. However the house we were going to purchase in Greensboro fell through and we ended up moving to Tampa Florida. When I called to find out how much extra I would have to pay to deliver to Florida instead of Greensboro, Excel Moving said they would have to charge me for an entire additional move at more than the cost of the original move!

Not a terrible experience but rather bad. Some services were wonderful and others terrible. Tangela who quoted us was nice and said we could call the Raleigh offices for free boxes - this isn’t true. When I called, the person that answered was extremely rude and never a reliable answer. Ultimately, they do not supply free boxes so this is a deception at best. On the other hand, Kim at the main office was helpful (but still no boxes) and Denver the driver and the load-up crew were good and quick.

I chose Excel for a long distance move based on the excellent reviews found here. Josh came out to do an inventory, and was very helpful and professional. He promised that I would have pick up and drop off date about a week before my actual pick up date. Josh was in constant contact asking for my payment. Once that was cleared, he refused all communication. Eventually, I received an email from my move coordinator. She seemed very confused, and could not figure out the move window set up by Josh.

My family moved from North Carolina to Colorado in March of 2019 and hired Excel Moving Storage to pack and ship our personal belongings. After delivery, we realized several of our items were missing and filed a claim with Excel. Despite us paying for full moving insurance coverage, Excel refuses to reimburse us for the items they lost. I will update this review if I'm able to find a resolution, but so far Excel has been completely uncooperative.

I too used Excel movers and although I really liked our Sales person who was willing to answer any and all of my questions and was really helpful my move itself was awful. The movers took one hour to load the truck which was great, but then they went to a restaurant for 30 min to have breakfast. I would not have mind this so much if I the leader stuck with his word saying he would not charge me for the time, but he did. I had to have it fixed by the by Sales guy, even after talking with the main office.

From the very start this was an extremely difficult experience. We wanted allied moving because of their reputation, but their subcontractor Excel was difficult to deal with from the start. It often took days to hear back from anyone and when you got a hold of the person they often said they left a message with my wife or myself, but we never received said message. They Packers did a decent job, but were unprepared and ended up using diaper boxes and other boxes they found in the garage.

Highly recommend that you NOT use these guys. Driver was rude and had to speak to him on multiple occasions about interrupting my wife and I while were were talking. His driving assistant was even worse. Complained loudly about how this was not a "real job" and how he hated his work. They damaged our brand new $2,300 frig and then tried to deny it. They also damaged my new hard wood floor while getting the frig out of the house. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service.
