First Step Moving

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this moving company. There are some great reviews so maybe the team I was given wasn’t the best however, the owner’s lack of professionalism is the reason I wouldn’t give them another chance. First, The movers took over 3 hours to move half of an 815 sq ft apartment. But only took 1.5 hours move the items into the new apartment. This is about 2.5-3 hour job especially since they weren’t moving the whole apartment.

I am beyond shocked that this place has such great reviews. Due to the fact that they did we booked them to move us today. They called and said they got into an accident so they couldn't come at the original time scheduled. We were very understanding and they gave us their sister company who showed up a half an hour late and REFUSED to wear masks. They also claimed they did not have masks.

Would not recommend them. I had two teams (each had their own truck) move me crosstown. The first team, was decent and careful, the second team was terrible and careless. If you are unlucky enough to get that team, stay away. 1. Dented the owner's wash/dryer at the rental without telling me. Cost me $80 which I still never received reimbursement even though the moving company's owner said he would. 2. Destroyed a number of power tools and garden tools.

Unfortunately, my experience with First Step Moving was extremely disappointing. I read all of the reviews and we specifically went with this company because of the amazing reviews. Our experience was quite different. I understand that the owners of this company are not present for the moves so they may be unaware, but these movers seemed to be amateurs.

I received the referral through Angie’s List. I wanted to support our veterans, but I did not want my personal belongings and my home damaged. I was quoted $99 per hour with a 2 hour minimum and a $55 service fee for three professional, experienced and background checked movers who work for the company and a truck. TWO men arrived to complete the move. I couldn’t get anyone to answer when I called to find out why there weren’t three. We proceeded because I couldn’t delay the move.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE... If you need moving help, pick a different company. We called to schedule a moving crew to come help us unload a uhaul trailer. We spoke the lady on the phone who was very sweet and booked our moving spot and time. We received the confirmation text and email as well and paid the deposit. Come moving day we had a two hour window to when the movers will call to say they are on their way... we never got the call.

First of all... I let most of the nonsense slide until today. We hired a 3 man team to move from Corinth to Lantana. Our official move date was 3/17/19. First irritation - I inquired about their packing services when asking for a quote. Arrived without packing supplies. Fine - I never confirmed that was needed, nor was I asked either. Second - they rolled my dresser down the stairs. Like end over end creating deep scratches on the top and sides.

I know that this service does not specialize in moving antique furniture, but the guys that we had assured me that they would be able to move a few antique pieces that we had. Two were damaged very badly and required $700 in repairs. They offered to repair it themselves, but I couldn’t trust them to repair these pieces themselves. I had already trusted them when they said they could move them and look where that got us. They paid us $0.60 per lb to cover the repair, but that only came out to about $130.
